Do not SMOKE (Tobacco in any form like chewing, misri - tooth paste etc). Swab and clean your feet daily. Dry them carefully, especially between the toes. Do not soak foot. Also do not soak feet in hot water. Do not use adhesive tape on the feet. Avoid crossing your legs. This can cause pressure on the nerves and blood vessels. Inspect the feet daily for blisters, cuts and scratches. A mirror can aid in seeing the bottom of the feet. Always Check between the toes. If your eyesight is weak ask your family members check your feet. Trim your nails and buff down calluses. Cut your nails straight across. For dry feet use a very thin coat of lubrication oil such as coconut oil. Apply oil after taking bath and drying your feet properly. Do not apply oil or cream, between the toes. Do not cut corns and calluses (corn cap). Follow special instructions from your physician or podiatrist. Do not use chemical agents to remove corn and calluses (corn cap). Do not walk inside or outside the house bare footed. Do not walk on hot surfaces like sandy beaches, around tiled surface of swimming pool, or on cemented surface. Do not use hot water bottles of heating pads (No fomentation). If feeling cold in the feet at night wear soaks at night. Always wear fitting stockings. Avoid using mended stockings. Do not use stockings with seams. Change stockings daily. In winter season take special precautions - wear woolen socks and protective footgear like fleece lined boots. Do not wear - garters, sandals with thongs between toes, shoes without stockings (socks). Shoes should be comfortable at the time of purchase. Do not wait for the shoes to stretch out. Always wear leather shoes only. Always check inside the shoes for foreign objects, nail points, torn linings and rough areas personally. Do not use strong anti-septic solutions on feet and never use topical pain relievers (external - local) like Tiger Balm, Amruntanjan Balm etc. on feet. See your physician regularly and make sure to get examined your feet at each visit. Notify your physician or podiatrist of any development of blisters or sore on your feet. Do not forget to inform of your diabetic problem to your physician or podiatrist. Always keep in check or control diabetes. ALWAYS CARRY A PLASTIC BAG TO AVOID TH FEET FROM SOAKING IN ATER AND SPECIALLY IN MONSOON SEASON.
