Twin Rivers R-10 Fisk Middle School Internet Use Policy Revised August 2008

Internet access is available to students and teachers at Twin Rivers-Fisk Middle School. We believe the Internet offers vast diverse and unique resources for both students and teachers. While our Internet is to make Internet access available to further educational goals and objectives, students and employees may find ways to access other materials as well. We believe the benefits from access to the Internet, in the form of information resources and opportunities for collaboration, exceed any possible disadvantages. Internet access is coordinated through a complex association of government agencies, and regional and state networks. In general this requires efficient, ethical, and legal utilization of the network resources. It is extremely important rules be followed. Misbehavior could result in temporary or permanent loss of access to the Internet. Violations may result in disciplinary action up to and including suspension/expulsion for students. When applicable, law enforcement agencies may be involved. Access to network services is provided to students who agree to act in a considerate and responsible manner. To gain access to the Internet, the student and parent are both required to sign the attached authorization form. The parties’ signatures on the attached authorization form are legally binding and indicate the parties have read the terms and conditions carefully and understand their significance. Return the authorization form to the school office. Access is a privilege, not a right, and entails responsibility. INTERNET TERMS & CONDITIONS • • • • • • • • • • •
