Recommendations/Suggestions There should fire drills at each quarter (one for quarter 1, one for quarter 2 and so on) to train the occupants of the building to know what to do during a fire rather than just escaping a fire primarily on impulse There should be annual inspections of fire countermeasure systems (fire extinguishers, fire alarms, emergency lights, fire sprinklers, smoke detectors, etc.) to check for deficiencies to ensure they are working. It is mandatory for the occupants of the building to partake in fire drills As a suggestion, fire drill trainings can be useful to teachers that it should be to taught to them to lead their students out of the building carefully during a fire Not only teachers but students will also be trained There should be checkups of flammable objects like gas tanks, electrical outlets, generators, etc. to prevent fires It could be essential for teachers to record an evacuation drill to reflect on what happened during a fire If you see the fire If you know how to use a fire extinguisher, get one right away to put out the fire If you don’t know how to use the fire extinguisher/there’s no fire extinguisher/the fire’s too strong, go for the fire alarm and activate it Close the doors to lessen the spread of fire and smoke Immediately get your valuables with you (phones, devices, important documents, etc.) One of your hands should cover your mouth to avoid suffocation. You can use a wet cloth to also cover your mouth If you have any dry cloth with you and you do not have the time to wet it, discard it immediately since cloth is a conductor of fire You must NOT panic Feel doors for heat with your hand before opening, if it is hot leave it closed If the door is not hot, you can open it REMEMBER to keep low to avoid suffocation from smoke since fire and smoke rise up Use the stairs to exit, NEVER use the elevators when the alarm is active Follow emergency signs Get to a safe place and dial 1-1-7 to report a fire If you hear the alarm (If during classes) Listen carefully to your teacher on what to do Immediately get your valuables with you (phones, devices, important documents, etc.) REMEMBER to exit in an orderly fashion The occupants must NEVER panic. Panicking can make the situation more complicated and occupants are more susceptible to dangers KEEP covering your mouth with one of your hands or a wet cloth and stay low to avoid suffocation from smoke Discard any dry cloth if you have one NEVER use the elevator, use the stairs to exit Close doors to lessen spread of fire and smoke Feel doors for heat, if it is hot leave it closed and if the door is not hot you can open it REMEMBER to keep close with your group even out of the building to not get lost
