By: Jonathan Sevilla SK-CSA: A Display of Success Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi and Arabia where the multi-billion through Flexibility Teamwork. project Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Complex (SKPC) is located and construction is currently on-going. SKPC has a goal of Integrating Petrochemical Complex with Olefins Cracker and Multiple Derivative Units, which Fluor was commissioned to do full EPCM on Utilities and Offsite Facilities. SKPC is one of the largest work shared project to Manila with almost one-(1) million engineering and procurement man-hours from two home offices namely Camberley and Houston, of which 130,000 played a part by CSA Manila alone that later on bloated to staggering to nearly 200,000 man-hours.

So how did SK-CSA Team overcame the challenges of executing such as large project as SKPC, of having two home offices with each set of standards in deliverables, construction-driven engineering schedule, with number of less experience personnel, one of the pioneer projects to execute steel structure modularization that comprised additional and new structural considerations, new checking procedures (paperless), so on? Keenness to and share knowledge from the experienced members tied-up with the active, vibrant and knowledgeWith the collective leadership from Romone Chavez and thirsty young and new personnel covers another’s George Galarpe together with in thereaching team’s project flexibility, limitations that escorted the team set commitment to teamwork and willingness to take goals. responsibilities and be accountable, led the way for the SK-CSA Team Brian in beating deadline Not to forget Jakins,deadline Designafter Coach from resulted to project played recognitions and Camberley who numerous really love Manila, a big role in spotlights toinconsistencies many members.between two home offices ironing–out and exerted effort in implementing process that would hasten-up production output.

Of course, from the very observation and not everyone may agree, but the atmosphere of FUN in the project and workplace separates SK-CSA Team from the rest. Laughter is almost everywhere in SK-CSA occupied area and this helped ease-up pressures produced by project requirements. Not to mention the generosity of most of the members wherein almost every week, food is available (wow!).

SK-CSA Team helped in harnessing and representing the real definition of project success through sharing and drawing-out knowledge and experiences from every unique individual member, at the same time moving as one (teamwork) to the direction to where the project would require (flexibility).
