PRINT YOUU PARTNER’S ESSAY!!! This is the same checklist I will be using with your final test. C- OK Good title (Capitalized, 2-5 words maximum) What is the thesis statement? Is it too broad? Too general? Complete sentences (Does not start a sentence with: and, but, so, because)? Are there 5 paragraphs/6 sentences long/3 supporting points? Do the supporting points have details? Does the conclusion have a sentence that rephrases the thesis? Does the conclusion have a summary of the supporting points? What types of sentences (simple, complex, compound)? Is there good spelling? Good grammar? How many transition words are used? Can you add any more transitions? Where? Are all the sentences combined? Can you combine any others? B- GOOD Hook (paragraph 1): What hook techniques were used (minimum 2)? Surprise Question Imaginary Situation Story Quotation Shared Memory Does the hook give the readers time to think? Does the hook CONNECT with the THESIS? How does it hook the head? How does it hook the heart? Does the hook "spoil" the reasons/details/opinions of the essay? Does supporting point 3 (and 1/2) successfully defend against the counterargument? Conclusion (paragraph 5: Why is the conclusion memorable/emotional?
