 Objective of the Presentation  To discuss about the film industry.  To show the good and bad era of film industry  To understand what’s holding back the industry

 To what should be done to fix the problems and  To show how movie impacts us

 History of Cinema in Bangladesh  Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898  Between 1913 and 1914, the first production company, Picture House, was opened.  Sukumari (The Good Girl) was the first Bengali-produced film in the region (1928)  Many successful Bangladeshi films were produced throughout the 1970s to the first half of the 1990s.

 Golden Era of Movie Industry  1980 – mid 1990 is considered the golden era of movie industry.  In these time we got movies like - Bhat De (1984) - Notun Bou (1983)

- Teen Kanya (1985) - Beder Meye Josna (1989) - Padma Nadir Majhi (1993)

- Aguner Poroshmoni (1995)

 The Fall of Film Industry  During 1990s the movie industry started loosing it’s audience due to lack of quality  The film directors started giving more attention to film's music, dance and other elements instead of story and Screenplay  During 2000s, Bangladeshi films began doing poor business and initially, the numbers of films decreased

 Present Situation of Movie Industry  The Bangladeshi film industry is growing at a fast pace Since 2010  Government and large production and distribution companies are helping the industry to produce more movies.

Looks glamourous but empty in story

 Movies created by these production is doing better business in the industry  But these films hardly catch the educated audience living in rural and urban areas Source: Google

Movies with no depth to characters, made for mainstream media.

Not enough resources

Movies made with strong characters, strong story telling. But lacks the mainstream practice of music and fight scenes in movies.

Targeted audience are mostly uneducated

 How Movies Impacts A Society  Cinema can easily change people’s opinions and their outlooks on life.  The sole purpose of films is to impact the viewer and to send a message.  Expanding our knowledge.  Brings people together.

 What Should be Done to Improve ?  Analyze the audience.  Encourage low budget film making.  Focus more on quality film making.
