According to the National Food and Drugs Authority(FDA), by 2007, they conducted a test on 22 lipstick brands and found lead in every single one at even higher levels, not just lead but also other toxic chemicals but the Lead is the most used additive for the colorant of synthetic lipstick. Nevertheless, the FDA considered Lead in the lip to be harmless but however considering that Lead accumulates in your body, and even minutes amount of Lead in lipstick lead to harm, everytime you lick your lip your adding Lead into your body. In addition, your lip absorbed directly into your bloodstreams. According to Dr. Robert A. Kominiareck, DO, a board certified, a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic family physicians with advanced training in Age Management Medicine and Hormone replacement, a graduate of Nova-Southeastern University in Springboro, Ohio. (seven warning signs your lips are giving you) Courtesy of Dr. Elena Barberia, Complutense University, Madrid Spain, Doctor of Medical Science(1982), Doctor of Dental Science(1996). She stated that severe irritation of lip tissue from constant sucking and licking lip tissue can cause swelling lips. (Oral Exam: damaged caused by lip sucking) The International Journal of Innovative Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research stated that continuous use of synthetic colors in the lipstick may cause serious adverse effects like skin irritation, skin discoloration, cancer, etc. There are instances that, ingredients that you can't even find on the product's packaging. The Environmental Working Group's Cosmetics Database(Harpers Bazaar) by Julie Gerstein, 2010 – a great online resource that lists the chemical ingredients of thousands of products. Be aware that even the Environmental Working Group cautions against jumping to conclusions about the health threat posed by each ingredient: "Research studies have found that exposure to this ingredient, not the products containing it caused the indicated health effect(s) in the studies reviewed by Skin Deep researchers. Actual health risks, if any, will vary based on the level of exposure to the ingredient and individual susceptibility."

Specifically, the study answered the following questions:

1. What are the natural ingredients used in the product that aids lip disorders? 2. What are the problems encountered by people who use synthetic lipstick? 3. Why cosmetologist use toxic chemicals in producing lipstick and balm or any lip applications?
