Dear Prime Minister

You Can End It! Just imagine your government doing the following to your people! • Starves children and scare them to death by aerial bombing their dwellings • Bombs their schools • Bombs civilian houses and hospitals • Expels foreign aid workers and block aid • Chases away 250,000 innocent civilians in to snake infested jungles • Kills Aid workers who feed and shelter war affected people • Kills those who dare to write the truth and label them terrorists • Labels peace mediators “White Terrorists” and block international peace efforts • Uses cluster bombs on war displaced civilians

Sri Lanka does this to its Tamil citizens Sri Lankan government has unleashed a “Genocidal War” against the Tamil people. For long it has been engaged in gross human rights violations as condemned by leading Human Rights Organizations. New York based Genocide Prevention Project lists Sri Lanka as one of eight "Red Alert" countries, where genocide is underway or at grave risk of breaking out. According to a letter written to the UN Secretary General on the 13th of January, by Rev. Fr. James Pathinathar on behalf of the Priests and Religious of Wanni, the present conflict zone, about 491,000 people are forced to be confined to an area 40 km by 40 km which continues to shrink due to the military advancement with aerial bombing and shelling. Atrocities happened in Gaza for 20 days but the present atrocities against the Tamils are continuing for more than a year, while the International Community is watching silently. As a Tamil Australian of Sri Lankan descent, I would like to humbly request you to use the opportunity of your forthcoming meeting with the Indian Prime Minister to raise this issue with him and help to save our brethren in Sri Lanka from genocide. If the Indian Prime Minister decides he could easily put an immediate end to this war. An immediate ceasefire with UN supervision is the need of the hour to prevent annihilation of innocent Tamils. Kindly prevail on him to join you in requesting the Government of Sri Lanka to a cease fire and Australia and India sponsor a UN peace keeping mission just as Australia did very successfully in East Timor. Thanking you in anticipation for your help in this matter. Yours truly
