Question Notes 8.0.2 Interim Feature Release 1 is an optional update delivering additional Sametime Entry features for Lotus Notes 8.0.2. This technote provides an answer to frequently asked questions and known issues with Lotus Notes 8.0.2 Interim Feature Release 1.

Answer 1) Where can you find Notes 8.0.2 IFR1? And are CDs available? Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 (Notes_802IFR1.zip) is available for download at Fix Central. CDs will not be made available. 2) Is Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 available for Windows and Linux? The initial release of Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 is for Windows only. For the Linux platform, contact IBM Support to obtain a hotfix for your environment. 3) Is Lotus Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 supported in all languages? The Sametime plug-ins are language agnostic and can be installed on any language version of Notes. 4) Where can you find the 8.0.2 IFR1 install documentation? Technote #1322549 -- How to install Lotus Notes 8.0.2 Interim Feature Release 1 on Windows 5) If Notes 8.0.2 cumulative client hotfix or fixpack is already installed, can you add Notes 8.0.2 IFR1? You must first uninstall any prior hotfix (HF), cumulative client hotfix (CCH), or fixpack (FP) before installing Notes 8.0.2 IFR1. Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 patches the existing code with feature plug-ins and can be installed only by running the Notes installer. The suggested install order is to: 1. Uninstall any HF, CCH, or FP 2. Install Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 3. Reinstall any HF, CCH, or FP. This can be done by using a batch file. 802CCH2 is used in the instruction examples which are as follows: 1. Create a new text file in Notepad 2. Enter the following: Setup.exe 802CCH2_W32.exe Or, if you already have 8.0.2 CCH2 installed, enter the following to uninstall the CCH first: 802CCH2_W32.exe Setup.exe 802CCH2_W32.exe 3. Save the file to the root of your Notes install directory as "install.bat" 4. Execute install.bat to install Notes 8.0.2 and CCH2. 6) What happens if you do not install Notes 8.0.2 CCH2 after installing Notes 8.0.2 IFR1? The Help/About window in Notes will report release 8.0.2 instead of release 8.0.2 CCH2. Also, the Primary Contacts side-shelf will display an error. 7) How come Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 is not packaged with Notes 8.0.2 CCH2 or Notes 8.0.2 FP1? Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 adds new features and plug-ins to a full Notes 8.0.2 installation whereas CCHs and FPs deliver bug fixes. The delivery mechanisms are separate for this reason. 8) Can Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 be provided as a hotfix, i.e. Bug Fixes plus IFR1 in one installation package? If not, why not? No. Hotfixes can patch only existing features. Since Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 installs new features, it cannot be delivered as a hotfix. 9) Can Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 be installed via Smart Upgrade, silent install, or any other install option? Yes, the install and upgrade instructions are identical to an 8.0.2 Standard Notes install. Refer to Upgrade Central: Planning your upgrade to Lotus Notes/Domino 8.0.2. Note: SURunAs (Smart Upgrade Run As) requires a special parameter to work with Notes 8.x Standard HF/CCH. To work around this issue, you must pass the parameter ALLUSERS=1 to the MSI. This parameter must be in quotes after a /v as in the following sample parameter set: /s /v"ALLUSERS=1 qb+". 10) Will Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 be added to an upcoming Notes maintenance release? The features released in 8.0.2 IFR1 will roll into Notes release 8.5. 11) How can you tell which plug-in version is installed? Notes 8.0.2 IFR1 installs additional Sametime plug-ins.
