The factories Act, is a social legislation which has been enacted for occupational safety, health and welfare of workers at work places.
Safety Fencing of
machinery. Protection of Eyes. Safety of Building and Machinery. Excessive Weights.
Health Disposal of waste
and effluents. Ventilation and temperature. Drinking water. Cleanliness.
WELFARE Washing facility. First aid
appliances. Canteens.
WORKING HOURS OF ADULTS Weekly hours. Weekly holidays. Daily hours. Intervals for rest. Night shift.
EMPLOYEMENT OF YOUNG PERSON Prohibition of
employment of young children. Non adult, workers to carry tokens. Working hours for children.
ANNUAL LEAVE WITH WAGES Wages during leave
period. Payment in advance in certain cases.
Before this act the workers working in the factory were highly exploited because there were no measures for safety, health and welfare for the worker and after this act was passed the workers got the advantage in all the fields. That is, health, welfare and safety and were free from employers exploitation.
