Expressions of Time used with the Present Tense
First, let’s review these expressions of time that are used for the Present Tense
ahora – right now hoy – today (implying later today) todos los días – every day cada semana – each week cada mes – each month cada año – each year
Examples
Hoy voy a la zapatería.
Mi mamá lleva sus zapatillas favoritas todos los días.
Today I’m going to the shoe store.
My mom wears her favorite slippers every day.
¿Tu visitas a tus abuelos cada semana?
Do you visit your grandparents every week?
Using the word “pasado”
Let’s review these words
el año el mes la semana

el lunes el martes el miércoles el jueves
el viernes el sábado el domingo
Using the word “pasado” cont.
By adding the word “pasado” to these words, the speaker now refers to that most recent period of time
El año pasado, yo fui a Nicaragua.
Last year, I went to Nicaragua.
Raúl compró un pijama nuevo la semana pasada.
Raúl bought new pajamas last week.
Since semana is feminine, pasado must become pasada.
Mis amigos y yo, el mes pasado, comimos sushi.
My friends and I, last month, ate sushi.

Les dije hola a mis amigos esta mañana.
