PLUMBUM

METALLICUM Discovered: by ancient civilizations

Origin: The name is derived from the Anglo-Saxon ‘laedan’. The chemical symbol comes from the Latin ‘plumbum’, meaning lead. his easy to work with metal has been used for pipes, pewter and paints since Roman times. It has also been used in lead glazes for pottery. In this century, as an additive to raise the octane level of petrol. All these uses have now either been banned, replaced or discouraged as lead is known to be detrimental to health, particularly that of children. Daily intake of lead from all sources is about a tenth of a milligram, and the average human body stores about 120 milligrams in the bones. Lead is still widely used for cable sheathing, car batteries, lead crystal, radiation protection and in a few solders. The following symptoms help us understand the psychic state of Plumbum: Delusions, sees castles and palaces Delusions, thinks he is working a machine Delusions, people appeared like dolls The castles and the palaces are symbols of material power and money. The machine is a symbol of productivity. The industrial revolution was based upon machines. A working machine produces enough work with low cost.

Lead has been banned and discouraged for use as it is known to be detrimental to health but the art and science of homeopathy has successfully harnessed the latent dynamic therapeutic powers of this inert metal substance.

The doll is a lifeless object, a thing. So the Plumbum person is one who seeks money. He is a great mate-

rialist. His only dream is to become rich. Moral values and ideals do not mean anything to him. He uses everybody else with an intention to achieve his aim. In some professions such as ship-owners, building constructors, car dealers, bar and dancing club owners – “Plumbum” as their constitutional remedy is more frequent. But one does not have to be rich to be Plumbum. Someone can be poor but at the same time can be thinking constantly of making money. As the years go by, Plumbum becomes a more frequent medicine. Car fumes cause constant pollution from lead. But the psychic state of our times too tends to syphilitic situations. Plumbum is a syphilitic medicine par excellence. The main disturbance of the syphilitic miasm is the tendency for conquest. In Plumbum too, there is a strong tendency to conquer money and material things in general. The above can be seen by the symptoms: Business, talks of Delusions, thought, they were pursuing ordinary business Delusions, is engaged in some occupation Delusions, is engaged in ordinary occupation Industrious That’s how he can see the behaviour of the Plumbum person. The father or the mother Plumbum does not show feelings for their children. They are cruel and treat them like dolls. They educate them without sentiment. They don’t teach their HOMEOBUZZ

children to sympathize and help other people. They only encourage them to make money in their lives. Their sexuality has no sentiments attached. A sexual companion for them is nothing but an object. They use other people as pleasure dolls in order to achieve their sexual enjoyment. The Plumbum scientist chooses the most profitable branch of his science. For example the Plumbum doctor in order to become as rich as possible prefers to specialize as a gynaecologist or plastic surgeon or a heart surgeon. He is very professional. He does not give money away to any of his customers and he even takes money from his close relatives. He enters and associates with the rich society of his community and aims to rise financially. He deals with financial investments with the stock market or even with gambling as well. He tries every way, to his build palaces. Gambling or lucky games when done systematically must make us think of Plumbum. The Plumbum person has a strong tendency to gamble. He himself systematically fills in “Pro-po” or “Lotto” and from the moment he wakes up in the morning he seeks the system he will use to win the lottery money on Sunday. But where can that life style lead to? The person adopts a hostile atti-

tude towards other people. He thinks that other people want to harm him and spoil his plans. He sees nothing but enemies around him and he is tries to find in vaineven a single friend. He reaches to the conclusion: “Everybody goes after money. There are no friends these days ...” Sometimes Plumbum can be advisable to paranoids. Their suspicion is very intense. The person thinks that he is being chased and his enemies have put the police to arrest him. Plumbum thinks that they are trying to kill me and my family. The above can be seen by the symptoms: Company, desires of a friend Delusions, danger of his life Delusions, is about to be arrested Delusions, sees corpse of dead brother and child Delusions, sees corpse of husband Delusions, that everyone around him is a murderer Delusions, thought he was pursued by friends Delusions, there were conspiracies against him Delusions, are conspiring to murder him Delusions, that he was about to be poisoned

Delusions, though he was pursued Delusions, of being murdered Delusions, of being poisoned Delusions, pursued by police Delusions, pursued by soldiers A depressive syndrome or even more the manic-depression can be otherwise this person’s end. The Plumbum constitution as syphilitic predisposes for maniac and depressive incidents. Symptomatology that appears in those cases is not enough by itself to indicate or suggest Plumbum as the only medicine. We must search for the deeper causes of this depression or mania, so we can find the basic delusions of Plumbum state. Symptoms that are related to the state above are the following:

Biting, himself Company, aversion to Cursing Destructiveness Indifference, apathy etc Laughing Loathing life Loquacity Mania Moaning Morose Memory active Mirth Rage

Runs about Sadness Sighing Spits in faces of people Striking Suicidal disposition Talk, indisposed to Thinking of complaints aggravates Weary of life Years ago, Plumbum was recommended to those people who suffered from latter stages of syphilis – A Venereal disease. In those occasions the Plumbum person would have intense ideas of greatness, he would believe that he owned palaces, that he was very rich and that he had great economic power. Cases such as the one described are not seen now anymore.

Another disease in which Plumbum could be useful is the “epileptoid stimulation”. It appears suddenly and can last from a few hours up to a few days. The basic symptom is the disturbance of conscience. The patients are in a state of confusion. They are obsessed by frightening pictures-delusions. They

think that someone is after them, someone who wants to kill them or their family. Invisible people come in their rooms trying to kidnap their children and their wives. Sometimes they picture others as demons that are trying to harm them. Obsessed by those fears they jump out of their bed and windows trying to escape, or they just run up and down, kicking, hitting, biting, spitting or attacking violently whoever happens to be around. The next day they do not remember anything. The above can also be seen by the symptoms: Confusion of mind Delusions, he will be murdered Delusions, sees dead brother and child

Delusions, all persons are devils Delirium, raging, raving Delirium, anxious Delirium, violent Delirium, after epilepsy Delirium, wild Destructiveness Striking Escape, attempts to

Spitting, in faces of people Fear of being murdered Plumbum can also be given to someone who is delirious. Again the basic symptom is the disturbance of conscience. The patient is in a confused or blurred state. He does not know where he stands. He moves his body and his arms or legs without purpose in a way that is related to his everyday activity. It is possible that the patient will express intense illusionary experiences. He might see people or animals, but behind all of those symptoms, there must always be the symbolism of the Plumbum state as we described above. The above can also be seen by the following symptoms: Confusion of mind Delirium Delirium tremens Delusions, of animals on bed Delusions, assembled things, swarms, crowds etc Delusions, bed is full of ants Delusions, sees figures Delusions, sees insects Delusions, sees people Gestures, makes of his usual vocation Unconsciousness, coma, stupor Plumbum is advisable for epilepsy or other mentally retarded cases. If we cannot conclude to the choice of Plumbum after what has been said so far, we must take under consideration the general and the physical symptoms. Also we must concentrate on the effort of finding a Plumbum picture in one of the parents or finding out if patient or his parents have ever been poisoned by lead. Often, physical symptoms may lead us to suspect that we have Plumbum state. That’s why we must have thorough knowledge, not only Materia Medica of the mind that has been described above, but also the rest of “materia medica of the medicine”. — Dr. George Loukas
