Example Weather Analysis By: James A. Nicklas
Clouds will increase during the day on Tuesday, as the strong southerly lowerlevel jet propagates a surface warm front northward. The surface warm front will be in conjunction with warm air advection at 850 mb, keeping 850 mb temperatures above freezing. Positive vorticity advection at 850 mb and 500 mb will help to foster lowerlevel and mid-level rising motions, coupled with the formation of a deck of clouds at 700 mb. Precipitation will begin Tuesday evening, as a 300 mb jet max propagates eastward and the 300 mb jet circulation becomes more apparent relative to the location of the surface low. Positive thickness advection will be prevalent most of Tuesday behind the surface warm front, with negative thickness advection occurring in the overnight hours with the passage of a surface cold front. Precipitation is overall expected to remain as rain during the forecast period.
