Star Alliance and Miles & More Lufthansa and Star Alliance offer customers Miles & More, a frequent flyer program. With 17,000 flights every day, 900 destinations and more than 100 airline and non-airline partners, they can offer a lot of opportunities to earn Miles, claim awards and enjoy benefits. For every mile flown with Lufthansa or other Star Alliance carriers, you’ll earn Miles that can be redeemed for award tickets and other great offers. For most miles flown with Star Alliance you are rewarded with one Award Mile and one Status Mile. If you choose to fly with one of our other airline partners, most miles flown are rewarded with one Award Mile. The total number of Miles credited to your account depends on the distance of your flight and the class you travel in: depending on the booking class a certain multiplication factor is applied to Award and Status Miles. Normal economy flights have a factor of 1. Full fare economy Miles (booking class B or Y) are multiplied by a factor of 1,5. Business Class Miles are multiplied with a factor of 2 and First Class Miles are multiplied by 3.. There is a minimum of 750 Award and Status Miles on most tickets for domestic flights. On most tickets for international flights, we offer you a minimum of 750 Award and Level Miles. Tickets in some classes may earn fewer or no Miles. You can earn two kinds of Miles: Award Miles and Status Miles. Award Miles add up to great offers: from Award tickets to hotel and car rental packages. Miles remain valid for unlimited time as long as you have one of the membership cards: Miles & More Member card, Frequent Traveller Card, Senator Card or HON Card. Status Miles take you to a higher level in Miles & More membership: from Member to Frequent Traveler to Senator and finally to HON Circle. Every year Status Miles are put back to zero at December 31st. When you have earned a certain number of Status Miles, you automatically enter the next level of membership, where you enjoy even more Miles & More benefits. Your Status Miles remain valid until the 31st of December in the year you have earned them. That does not mean you cannot reach a higher level before that date. As soon as you have earned a sufficient number of Level Miles, you can move up to a higher level at any time of the year. Each level offers its own benefits and privileges. Frequent Traveler, Senator and HON Circle membership levels offer you Miles & More benefits and privileges, like lounge access and priority boarding. Once you have earned the required number of Status Miles, you will automatically be upgraded to the next membership level, providing you more and more benefits. The Frequent Traveler level is your passport to a preferential treatment. As a Frequent Traveler, you are recognized as a Star Alliance Frequent Traveler customer by all Star Alliance airlines which entitles you to save time throughout your entire journey. In addition, Frequent Traveler status makes you earn 25% more Miles & More Award and Status Miles when flying on Star Alliance airlines. Similarly, as a Senator you earn 25% more Award and Status Miles, and as a HON Circle member you earn 50% more Award and Status Miles. Example:

A one-way flight (Booking Class Y) from Singapore to Zurich yields the following miles: • 6.399 Miles according to distance flown which is rewarded as 9.599 Miles according to Booking Class Y (150% of distance flown) • 1.600 Miles Executive Bonus (25% of distance flown) • Award miles earned for this flight: 11.199 Miles • Status Miles earned for this flight: 11.199 Miles Members can track the status of their miles account through the web.
