Our HONORED HERO
Ethan Bartholomew Ethan has been an Honored Hero with Team in Training for almost 5 years. Soon after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in 2002 at the age of three, Ethan began participating in the program by attending Team runs. His Dad, Steve, was so inspired that he decided to run two marathon in Ethan’s honor. He ran Disney in 2003 and 2004. After that, his mom, Kelly, began running with the Team and completed half marathons in Bermuda, North Trails, White Rock, and is currently training for Anchorage in June of 2007.

Ethan enjoys coming out to group runs to see “his” runners. Soon after becoming an Honored Hero, he would see people running on the streets and explain that they were running “to make his blood better!” One of Ethan’s favorite things to do with the Team is to have squirt gun fights after hot summer runs. These days, Ethan is like other eight-year-olds. He attends 2nd grade at Mary Immaculate Catholic School in Farmers Branch. He has reached the Wolf rank in Cub Scouts and enjoys playing basketball and baseball. He loves conducting science experiments and spends a lot of time hanging out with his brothers Jake (5) and Zach (3). This spring, Ethan is celebrating his fifth year of remission!! He is definitely one of the lucky ones. Through the research performed over the last few decades, the survival rate for childhood leukemia has increased significantly. There is still so much to be done to help children like Ethan and others who are diagnosed with blood cancers. With every step you take during your training and at you event, you help bring us closer to a cure.
