Types of pollution

Noise pollution IT IS GENERATED BY NOISE AND IT AFFECTS NEGATIVELY OUR HEALTH.

Organic pollution

Organic pollution These compounds are biodegradable and

can be decomposed by bacteria; The organic pollutants are mainly originated from the decomposition of plants and animals. This results in decreased levels of oxygen, because the microorganisms use the oxygen to dissolve organic material.

Organic pollution

Organic pollution Industrial processes throw toxic pollutants

that enter the food chain through animals

Chemical pollution Chemical pollution is caused by launching

organic garbage excess without treatment in the nature.

These pollutant materials, directly thrown into

rivers, lakes or bays, cause dangerous contamination that can directly or indirectly reach back good part of the population that generated the garbage.

Chemical pollution “...Chemical pollution of waters will affect them,

not only through the reduction of fish, but also through the death or reduction of plankton in seas and lakes.  The garbage and the leaked oil as a result of

ship clean up, shipwrecks, processing industries, refineries, etc. remarkably contribute to pollute the oceans

Radioactive pollution

What is a radioactive element? Radioactive Decay occurs 

when an unstable nucleus loses a particle and energy by emitting radiation. This decay produces a daughter nuclide that may also be unstable. The decay of an unstable nucleus is entirely random and it is impossible to predict when a particular atom will decay. However, it is equally likely to decay at any time; the half-life is the time taken for half the

Radioactive pollution

Thermal pollution Thermal pollution consists of the heating of

natural waters through the return of the used hot water in the refrigeration of power plants, refineries, siderurgical and diverse industries back to the natural environment.

Areas to be examined thoroughly

Figueira da Foz Figueira da Foz, also

known as Figueira for short, is a city of the district of Coimbra, in Portugal. The salt evaporation ponds of Figueira da Foz are situated in the estuary of the river Mondego. The salt evaporation ponds are one of the main economic activities of

Ó mar salgado, quanto do teu sal São lágrimas de Portugal! Por te cruzarmos, quantas mães choraram, Quantos filhos em vão rezaram! Quantas noivas ficaram por casar Para que fosses nosso, ó mar! Valeu a pena? Tudo vale a pena Se a alma não é pequena. Quem quer passar além do Bojador Tem que passar além da dor. Deus ao mar o perigo e o abismo deu, Mas nele é que espelhou o céu.

Fernando Pessoa

Figueira da Foz The Mondego Cape, a promontory in

the Serra da Boa Viagem, is located in the Portuguese coast, which is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. From the geological point of view, this cape has a high scientific value and is worldwide recognized, and therefore it was classified as a Natural Monument. This cape is very important for understanding the geological history of Portugal. Near the Natural Monument of Cabo Mondego is a cement industry, which crushes the local slope. However, this industry has been the

Figueira da Foz

Figueira da Foz The group Portucel Soporcel, which is one of the

strongest presences of Portugal in the world, has a position of great prominence in the international market for pulp and paper. It is among the major producers of uncoated fine papers in Europe. It is also the largest European producer and one of the largest in the world of white pulp of eucalyptus. The processes adopted are also an example of sustainable development and energy efficiency in that it uses a renewable fuel, forest biomass, as the main energy source,

Nazar é

Nazaré Waste resulting from human activity that are

released into the sea brings into question the balance of marine ecosystems remaining on the seabed for long decades, until its deterioration.

Nazaré The river (Liz) that crosses the area of Leiria

brings in its flow the pollutants resulting from the pig industry that are taken to the sea.
