△ Either チ and ティ (テand small ィ) stands for [ti] sound such as in 'team' in English, e.g チーム ティーム. ○ Either ツ and トゥ(トand ゥ) stands for [tu] sound such as in 'tour' in English, e.g ツアー,トゥアー. ツ has 2 sizes. The smaller one is not pronounced but stands for a short pause (about one hiragana-length), and is regarded as one syllable. * ヲ is pronounced オ[o] but it (katakana ヲ) is not used to describ the sound. ウォ stands for [wo] sound such as in 'watch' in English. E..g. ウォッチ ** ー makes the preceding vowel longer and | is used when you write vertically. *** ン is pronounced [m],[n],[ng] and so on.

Small ヤ, ユ and ヨ are always attached to preceding letters. And both letters(the preceding ones and small ヤ, ユ or ヨ) are written in each column but they are regarded as one syllable. The length of キャ[kya] is same as that of カ[ka] and the length of キャー[kyaa]/[kya:] is about twice longer than them. △ヂャ,ヂュ,ヂェ and ヂョ are pronounced as ジャ[ja],ジュ[ju],ジェ[je], and ジョ[jo], but they are not used to describe the sounds in the loan words. □ デュ stands for [dyu] sound such as in 'duet' or 'duty' in English instead of ヂュ.
