Name ______________________ Epithelial Tissue Lab Pre-Lab 1. How do you name any epithelial tissue (name both ways)? __________________________________________________________________________ 2. If I told you that the tissue was stratified columnar, what would you expect to see under the microscope? ___________________________________________________________________________ 3. What does transitional epithelium look like when it is distended with urine? ___________________________________________________________________________ Lab It is your responsibility to draw your tissues carefully. This is a lab grade and the drawings will be graded for neatness and accuracy. You will use these drawings (and links on my website) to study for the lab practical portion of your test. Procedure: 1. Go to your assigned station in the lab. 2. Use your time wisely. You will see a tissue sample under the microscope. DRAW EXACTLY WHAT YOU SEE. There should be NO NEED TO ADJUST THE COARSE ADJUSTMENT KNOB. If you field of view is unclear, you should use the fine adjustment knob only. 3. You will have 7 minutes for you and your partners to look at and draw what you see in your field of view. 4. Label the apical surface, basement membrane, and one nucleus for each tissue. 5. When time is up, you will move to the next station. 6. If 7 minutes is not ample time for your group, you will have time to come back to any that you need extra time. Data: Station #1
