SHAPES Which occupies area is known as shape. Types of shapes…..i) Organic shape ii) Inorganic shape Organic shapes are related to nature, like rock, stone, leaf etc. These shapes are normally looks like free-hand shapes while inorganic shapes consists sharp edges and have a definite turns inside the shape.

TEXTURE Texture is the feel of surface. It can be traced on the paper and called visual texture. By different

Texture part we can show or can express any theme by arranging the textures in a meaningful manner. Here I am showing the sense of development by arranging the texture in soft to hard direction. It means I am creating a rhythm and a direction in my collage made up of different visual textures.

LINES Design process starts from the (.) or before putting the dot. A line is a collection of dots …………………………………………..

Different types of line express different motives or expression.

Horizontal line ………….. It expresses horizon, it divide the space. A horizontal line shows the stability, relaxation, continuity etc. Thick line …. It shows loud expressions and confidence etc. Vertic al line …..It shows straightness, pride, alertness, increasing, high, discipline, ambition etc. Diagonal line … It represents unbalance, movement, motion, energy etc. Curve line ….. It shows flexibility, smoothness, flow, relax, casual etc.

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN Collages

How to create an emphasis… ….. Centre Isolation Similarity & proximity Size Shape Color contrast. For balancing……… Color Shape Direction Two types of balance i) formal ii) informal The formal or symmetry balance is known as mirror image; it can be biaxial symmetry or radial symmetry or near symmetry. While other one is asymmetry.

Surrealism ….. It is an art style begun in 1920s. It is fantastic imagery from subconscious mind and contains no intension of logical comprehension. At first glance it seems realistic but in actual it is like a dream. A Collages should follow all the basics of design like composition, layout, grid, unity, color combination, background etc.

THEORY

COLOUR

The color we see in nature is the reflection from the light around us. The sunlight contains seven visible colors inside. There are three main properties of colors, by which we can define them. These are…..

Hue………..name of the color Saturation….amount of the color Value….........lightness or darkness of the color Different colors used for show different types of moods, abstract, symbols etc. There are two models of colors additive & subtractive based on missing of light and ink. Each and every color has own meaning and symbolic value, so each express various harmonies. Different types of colors….. primary, secondary, tertiary, warm, cool, complement, monochromatic, achromatic etc.

COLOR WHEEL A color wheel is a circular shape which consist twelve colors which are used in subtractive model, in print media. It has three primary colors... Red, blue & yellow These are purest forms of colors in this model. BY mixing two primary colors in equal amount we can get secondary colors Magenta, green & orange. Similarly by adding a primary and a secondary color we can get tertiary colors. The wheel contains twelve colors and each color has its complementary color just

opposite to it. The wheel has warm colors one side & cool colors on the remaining half. Warm hues…..from magenta to Yell ow (via red) Cool hues…….from violet to lemon Lem on green.

RHYTHM Every vocal tone like music, tunes, and songs creates feelings inside us which we can trace on the paper with the help of lines, curves, shapes and textures.

Whatever be the music it effects our perception. I made rhythmic feelings for each music. This shows the loud and deep emotions of the music. i) RED INDIAN ACID ii) INDO WESTERN FUSION iii) ITALIAN TRANS MUSIC The feeling of first one is like a mysterious festive inside a dark jungle with an amount of fear. The second is softer than first one and bit relaxation with passion and happiness. The third one creates a big amount of tension, the

melody variation makes it more exclusive and mysterious too.

3 – D TEXTURE One can create three dimensional textures on a textile by giving certain feeling to the surface of the cloth. Here I created very simple textures on cloths by using thread, gum, cotton and pieces of paper (inside) on different shades of white color cloth. COLOR COMPOSITION AS all colors have their own significances and

meanings, we can express theme by these colors only. The composition would be purely abstract and should show its expression loudly. These types of compositions are parts of modern art. There is no defined restriction to show a certain expression by a certain colors but there are symbolic colors which one can use.
