How the visualiser was used? Pupils were given the text of an advert. They analysed language use and the ways that made the product seem attractive. The visualiser was then used to display the full advert in colour. Pupils were then able to comment on aspects of layout, images and colour and the way that these techniques enhanced the power of the advert. The benefits of the Visualiser to teaching & learning: • Aided understanding in a visual way

Less time required on lesson preparation The ‘ooohhh’ factor of seeing the advert enlarged and in colour Details could be enlarged to enhance ideas about slogans, etc Pupils could then write a more detailed language analysis. This is an area where, typically, pupils have struggled in the exam. Improved understanding of key media concepts
