ENGLISH IV COURSE SYLLABUS Course Description This culminating English course will prepare you to complete your senior project, write an I-Search paper, and engage with texts from around the world. During the first semester we will be reading "Things Fall Apart", gathering artifacts for your senior project, writing a project proposal, evaluating sources, and preparing for life beyond high school. Course Goals This course emphasizes the study and consideration of literary, cultural, and human significance of selected great works from the around the world. During the first semester we will read, analyze, and discuss Chinua Achebe's novel "Things Fall Apart". An important goal of this class is to promote an understanding of the works in their cultural/historical contexts and of the enduring human values which unite the different literary traditions. Students will also learn how to develop research, edit and publish a polished I-Search paper.
