English III Course Syllabus
Course Description: This semester we will be exploring the theme of journey, change, and myth. We will write a personal narrative in myth form, read a variety of British writers, and explore future career options.
Course Goals: We will read The Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le K. Guin, explore the idea of myth and journey in detail, write personal narratives in a myth form, and read British short stories and poetry. Course Expectations: Students will be expected to attend regularly, participate in class discussions, work to the best of their ability on class assignments, and attend field trips.

Background personal narrative information. Brainstorm personal narrative. Lead up to reading A Wizard of Earthsea. Students fill out anticipation guide, and complete situation problematic activity. Students read Chapter 1 and work on vocab. Read Chapter 2, work on vocabulary lesson and guided reading questions. Read Chapter 4 in class. Complete vocabulary, problematic situation activity, and guided reading questions. Read Chapter six, complete vocabulary and guided reading questions.
