Those are things that nobody should hear in a school environment. The sound of a gun shooting inside a school followed with an agonizing scream. That should never be a thing, but it has been in the United States. It has been said that last year, 2018, was the worst year for US school shootings. I have seen so much news about all of these school shootings throughout last year. It has come to my interest in why it had happened so much, then I realized it was because of the gun rights and laws not being advocated in the government. Such things have inspired me to learn more, so I started to dig more research about it. That’s why I want to make a research essay out of this because this is a big issue in the US that I would like to research and try and put forth a possible solution. This whole debacle in the last year has always, in the end, put me into a state of anger, but in the beginning, whenever I see news about another school shooting, it would make my stomach drop. I would always feel this helplessness grow inside me because I can’t do anything about it and that I couldn’t stop it from happening. I truly think that all of these issues concerning gun control is all on the government and the people. I think that there is a simple solution to it all too. I believe in so much of the people advocating for better gun control in the US. I believe that if people who want to keep the current laws and regulations are incorrect and that there are better regulations and laws that can be taken into the government to possibly lessen gun shootings in schools of the US. I have taken account for both sides, knowing what mostly the basics of what

Corneja 2 both sides want in this controversial topic, but I lean more towards the side that betters regulations of guns. Overall, I still needed to research more about this topic, so I can answer my two questions. Which are: 1) Why are there not enough and good background regulations within purchasing and using a gun in the United States?, 2) Why is this controversial topic so hard to find a solution that will better our society? I know I have a lot to research and find out about this topic, so I know that I will look back at the beginning of this year and all the articles and news about anything related to gun control.
