[email protected] Your Mind, The Earth, and Emotions as Medicine The natural way to address emotional etiologies of chronic disease Short Description This presentation contrasts our everyday “ego” experience of the world with the true nature of the human mind. By blending classic neurology, chaos-based system theories of consciousness, and a simple guide to healing emotions, we will explore human nature and its instructive similarities to the Earth’s weather system. Brief Outline: I. Group Participation: Guided Open-Awareness Meditation (GOAM) II. Anatomy and Physiology of the Mind A. Two classic neurology experiments B. Ego/Aware Mind C. Subliminal/Subconscious Mind III. The Nature of Emotions and Sensations A. Origin and function of emotions and sensations B. Understanding emotions and sensations as part of a non-linear, “chaotic” system. IV. Insights from Meteorology- how our understanding of the weather can help us with emotions. V. Clinical Application: Guided Open-Awareness Meditation (GOAM) A. Physician, heal thyself. B. How to work with emotions in a clinical setting VI. Theoretical applications of GOAM to the resolution of the Earth’s climate crisis. The objective of the presentation is for participants to understand that: 1. The experience of our ego is limited, approximate, and massively filtered so that what we perceive “makes sense,” but isn’t necessarily true. This part of our mind uses linear logic and value judgments (good vs. bad, etc.). 2. Our subliminal (sometimes called subconscious) mind is massive and non-linear. It’s consciousness and intelligence is based on the rules of systems dynamics and chaos mathematics. 3. Emotions and sensations are the brain’s interpretation of shifting energy systems/electromagnetic fields that are produced by the trillions of feedback loops among the trillions of cells and organisms that make up our body. This is analogous to the weather system of Earth being produced from the interactions of relatively simple gases that are powered by the uneven distribution of energy on and in our planet. 3. Though our perception indicates otherwise, our subliminal mind is in control, and our ego is playing catch-up. However, our ego does seem to have “veto power.” 4. The value judgments and veto power of the ego lead to frequent suppression of emotions that don’t feel good. This process blocks the natural dissipative rhythms of the energy cycles of the subliminal mind. I.e., this process blocks the “thunderstorms” of emotions. 5. The effects of repressing emotions are destructive to the body, similar to the physical destruction of our planet from extreme changes in weather patterns. 6. By following the rule of “honor what you are feeling” one may create an “open awareness” that allows suppressed emotions to dissipate, thereby eliminating a major factor in physical and mental dysfunction.
7. As a system within a system, each person can help heal the planet by accepting his or her own inner turmoil regarding the destruction of Earth. Once that inner wound is healed, that person has reduced or eliminated his or her own energetic contribution to that destruction.
