A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD BY NORMAN C HOO

1 Peter 2:9 NIV But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

This verse declares our position in the kingdom of God and the authority and ability that God has given to us to accomplish the ministry assigned. As we submit willingly to Him, God will assign to each one of us the goal, the task and the position. The task is to be a royal priesthood. Not many Christians truly have the knowledge and understanding of this teaching. That leads to the failure in living out the priesthood and in exercising the function of a priest.

fellowships worldwide.

In the Old Testament, God had intended that the nation of Israel would be a “kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (Exodus 19:6). However, the Israelites failed to live up to their calling and eventually God allowed the Babylonians to execute punishment on them. When we come to the New Testament, God now intends for the church to be that “holy nation.”

CROSSOVER TRAINING 1 6 T H - 1 7 T H F EB RUA RY 2 0 0 9 AT W I S M A EAG L ES

A crossover training from Adult (Classic) EE to Xee was held on Feb 16-17 at Wisma Eagles, Subang Jaya for clinicians who were previously trained in Adult EE. The training objective was to assist Adult EE trained Teacher-Trainers to understand and implement Xee in the various churches and fellowships. The training leaders were Voon Yuen Woh, Chairman EE Malaysia and Stephen Hanlon, Xee Coordinator for Asia. The training syllabus included explanations on the strengths & weaknesses of Adult EE, Generational Differences, differences of philosophies of Xee and Adult EE etc. Many questions were raised and answered during the two-day training. As part of the training, the participants were involved in role playing and small group discussions. These creative methods of learning contrib-

uted to the enthusiasm of the group. Among those who attended included representatives from Miri Gospel Chapel, Full Gospel Tabernacle, Praise Baptist Centre Sri Damansara, Peoples' Park Baptist Church PJ, The Hope of Glory Centre Ampang, LCMS 11th Mile Cheras, Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church Wangsa Maju, Glad Tidings PJ, First Baptist Church PJ, Canning Garden Baptist Church Ipoh, River of Life Sanctuary Bandar Puteri, and Full Gospel Assembly Sungai Buloh. The crossover training ended with a challenge to all participants to continue to carry on the work of the gospel. In Malaysia, EE is only active in a few states. The goal now is to reach our nation using Xee, a tool to disciple a new generation of believers and to proclaim the name of Jesus.

WITH THE WORK OF THE KINGDOM, THERE’S NO LIMITING GOD OR WHAT HE CAN DO. I am very thankful to God for providing us with an environment where so much of God’s love and grace were shown when we were doing the sessions, role plays, and when making contact with our friends. CONGRESS OF NATIONS 2010

IRENE’S FIJI EXPERIENCE

NEW PHASE OF GROWTH EE is embarking on a new and exciting phase of its growth. The growth of Evangelism Explosion over the past two decades has been remarkable. However, the organisational structure put in place 20 years ago does not serve well the challenges of operating this dynamic and growing ministry in a global environment.

GREATER VOICE TO NATIONAL MINISTRIES Recognising this, the International Board will establish a mechanism for giving greater voice and influence to National Ministries. The plan is that approximately every three years a Congress of Multiplying Nations will be held. These representatives, together with Regional Directors and Vice Presidents from around the world, will join in planning, problem solving, encouraging, and strategising for the ministry of EE both globally and regionally.

FIRST CONGRESS OF MULTIPLYING NATIONS – MARCH 22-26, 2010 IN MALAYSIA The first Congress Task Force has been appointed to plan and organize. The EE Malaysia Board and the Rev. Voon Yuen Woh have consented to play a major role in mounting this Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The dates selected are March 22-26, 2010.

AIMS OF THE CONGRESS 1. To enhance and advance the continental, national, and specialist ministries of EE by developing strategies designed, under God, to achieve our global vision; 2. To promote fellowship, deepen commitment, facilitate prayer and the exchange of ideas, to strengthen our spiritual lives, and to encourage us all in this grand work; 3. To contribute to the creation of a form of Covenant with EE International that will assist National ministries to prosper, help maintain the integrity of EE material around the world and over time, stimulate new developments and initiatives, and be an aid, not only to advance the ministry in every possible way, but also to keep it cohesive and well integrated. 4. To promote to the Board of EE International recommendations for policy decisions with respect to issues that may require their approval.

EE Training Centre in Fiji

April this year, I was part of the six week training for IFWs (Implementation Field Workers) at Kennedy Training Centre in Nadi, Fiji. During the training, we had sessions discovering our individual strengths and personality types and were taught how to raise up ministry partners. We were involved in running/teaching two clinics as well. There were 26 of us IFWs from 14 nations, and it was wonderful learning from each other's cultures and experiences. It was very hard to say goodbye at the end of these 6 weeks, but the work of the Lord must go on, and with this training, we trust we'll be more effective in assisting churches to multiply by igniting a passion for the lost and empowering them to accomplish the Great Commission! Thank you all for your prayers during the six weeks. Indeed we all left Fiji not only with the tools to be more effective IFWs, but with a greater love for the Lord and the lost! Thank you so much. Irene Chan Irene Chan has recently been appointed as Implementation Advisor after returning from training in Fiji.

Class in progress.

A DIVINE APPOINTMENT

BY HONG JU KHEE

I am writing in great happiness to tell you that I have used EE today at an unlikely place to lead someone to Christ! Praise the Lord. My 4th OJT! At an event I was emceeing, the conversation of spiritual awareness came up during lunch. I used that as a spring board and continue to share the Gospel amidst the music and yum-seng-ing. And interestingly the prospect listen attentively and felt EE's way was not pushy like he has normally encountered. And though there were too many distractions around, I asked for his commitment, and he said yes. I did the clarification and voila ---- we stepped out of the event and I prayed with him in the VIP holding room. I did not have the "Partners in Growing” today only because it is too heavy for me (which obviously was a wrong decision!), so I could not give him. But I told him some one would call him to follow up. I was in disbelief and GOD SENT A CONFIRMATION OF THIS DIVINE APPOINTMENT ---

Pastor Voon's brother who happens to work in the company that oraganised the event. He suggested for me to channel the prospect back to FGT. The prospect ran out of business cards and said he would email me for further correspondence. So, thank you and wow!

The Joy of Winning Souls by Rachel Evans

Rachel Evans

Hi, my name is Rachel Evans. I am 9 years old. I joined Kids EE in FGT last year. I learned how to share the gospel through many fun activities, actions and songs. During the Kids EE semester I shared the gospel with 7 people

together with my partner and trainer. I am very happy that 6 of them received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I am glad that I did Kids EE because I know how to share the gospel with my friends.

ister Maureen joined the task force EE International has set up to revise our Kids EE materials. The task force met from 10th st until 21 May 2009 in Wollongong, Australia. KEE leaders from around the world attended to spend time carefully identifying how we can best meet the challenge of training millions of children. It was a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas and come up with the best tools. Participants also included Kids EE leaders from each continent and representatives from OneHope. On May 19th which is the EE

International Day of Prayer a significant part of the day was spent joining with others in prayer for the EE Ministry and the impact of our project around the world. Participants had the opportunity of sharing in a Kids program at Figtree Anglican Church to see one of the ways that Kids EE has been incorporated into their church activity. Following that there was a casual gathering of Children’s Ministry leaders from the area to enable each one to have the opportunity of sharing their experience in children’s ministry in their part of the world.

PARTNERSHIP: FULL GOSPEL BUSINESS MEN’S FELLOWSHIP MALAYSIA & EE MALAYSIA July 5th 2009 marks an historic event as EE Malaysia partners with Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship (FGBMF) Malaysia to host an Xee Facilitator’s Training at the FGBMF headquarters in Kelana Jaya, Selangor. Among the aims of the FGBMF is to reach men in all nations for Jesus Christ and to train and equip men to fulfil the Great Commission. With the Xee training, these trained faithful men will continue to do the work of reaching this nation using the resources and influence available to them. We pray that this partnership between EE and FGBMF will impact significantly the work of the gospel in our nation.

ABOUT FGBMF The Vision We see a vast global movement of laymen being used mightily by God to bring in this last great harvest through the outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit before the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. That vision is becoming a reality through the Fellowship's ministries, now touching over 156 nations and transcending denominations, racial and cultural barriers.

Our Mission

For further information on this training or on FGBMF, please contact Philip Chieng at

The function of FGBMF is not to compete with the local churches but to complement one another.

[email protected] 012-2962082

In spite of its name, FGBMF is not for businessman only but for all men in all occupations. The emphasis in the name is on FULL GOSPEL BUSINESS, that is, the business of these men is the Full Gospel of Jesus Christ. To reach men everywhere for Jesus Christ. To call men back to God.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28: 19-20

To train and equip men to fulfill the great commission. To help believers to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and to grow spiritually. To provide an opportunity for Christian Fellowship. To bring a greater unity among all people in the Body of Christ.

“一切都是出于神,他藉着基督使我 们与他和好,又将劝人与他和好的职 分赐给我们。这就是神在基督里叫世 人与自己和好,不将他们的过犯归到 他们身上,并且将这和好的道理托付 了我们。所以,我们作基督的使者, 就好像神藉我们劝你们一般。我们替 基督求你们与神和好。(林后5:1821)”

Our responsibilities as priests are two-fold:

(Continued on page 9)

Firstly, we represent God before those who do not know God. Paul taught us this truth: 2 Cor 5:18-20 NIV All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God ... It is unthinkable that God should entrust to unworthy and filthy people like us this important office and to be His ambassadors to reconcile man to God. How great is this honor and blessing! This is a great God-given privilege and authority. Therefore, we should always count it a joy to share the gospel with others. It’s sad to see so many Christians who are not living out their priesthood, not representing God in the way that those around can have the chance to hear the gospel and to put their faith in Christ. Unbelievers would like to see Christians as priests whose lives demonstrate the character of Christ. Secondly, as priests, we intercede for others. We bring the needs of people before God, and plead for His mercy and help.

“when you are willing to pray, you will know there is a God”

Heb 4:16 NIV Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. This is the precious promise which God gives to us: that we will indeed find grace to help us whenever we come to God’s throne of grace. When we walk the way of faith we (Continued on page 9)

engage in spiritual warfare. The believer will face various kinds of difficulties, temptations and even frustrations. Without the prayer of the priest (the Christian), failure is guaranteed. George Muller spent 52 years without ceasing to pray for his five friends. At the end, all of them accepted Jesus as their personal savior although two of them accepted Christ only two years after he died. No wonder a pastor once encouraged us with this prayer lesson: “When you are willing to pray, you will know there is a God; when you pray as you see, you know God will help you; when you pray as you think, you know God has victory over all.” May the Lord help us to always have this attitude in praying for the EE ministry, in praying for our friends and for our relatives. My wish is that all of us will be willing to become His faithful priests.
