Ealing Studios.
Ealing Studios are a film production company that are based at Ealing Green in West London. They are officially labelled as the oldest film studio in the UK. It was initially started in order to cope with, and produce, sound films and, as a result, have produced some very iconic films in its history. Started in 1896, the company was bought and developed by theatre producer, Basil Dean in 1929 for production of “talking films” and was re-opened in 1938 as “Ealing Studios”. In the earlier years, Ealing produces many comedies starring actors such as George Formby and Will Hay, both accomplished performers in their time. Ealing was, and still is, often used for documentary film making and these types of films were increased in 1955 when Ealing was bought by the BBC. There was a break in Ealing’s production for while but nowadays it is bringing out various independent films and documentaries for the BBC.
