DRIVING ON ICE

In icy weather, it's always best to avoid driving. If you must drive and you hit a patch of ice, stay off your brakes and decelerate slowly, holding the car steady as you travel over the ice. If your car goes into a skid:

Turn wheels

Direction of skid

1 NO BRAKES

Take your foot off the gas pedal but don’t hit the brake.

2 STEER

Steer gently in the direction you want the front of the car to go.

3 REGAIN CONTROL

As the car straightens out, you will be able to regain traction and control.
