Dear fellow Lithuanian-American: This year the only Lithuanian language daily newspaper outside of Lithuania, DRAUGAS, is celebrating its centennial anniversary. Its Founders never dreamt that their publication would one day celebrate such an achievement. As DRAUGAS commemorates its centennial, Lithuania is also celebrating its millennium. DRAUGAS was an ideological weapon that contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union and the reestablishment of independent Lithuania. DRAUGAS is the pride of Lithuanian-Americans, it never deviated from its purpose — to serve God and Country. We invite every Lithuanian-American, whether they read DRAUGAS or not, to participate in this momentous jubilee, by attending our Centennial Banquet or making a donation. Be part of this historic newspaper on this significant occasion as future generations will note our endeavors. The Banquet will take place on October 17, 2009 at Willowbrook Banquets, 8900 Archer Road, Willow Springs, IL 60480 Dr. Jonas Prunskis
