LVQ Conference By: Doreen Kennedy On Saturday October 24th, 2009 we went to Montreal for the LVQ Conference which was held at the Maritime Plaza Hotel. We arrived around 9:00 a.m. First Marlene had to park the van. Then we took an elevator up to the conference room. We had to check in. They gave us a bag with a recycling bag, 2 pens, 1 pencil, and a stress reliever and my agenda for the day. Then we sat at a table and went for coffee. There were croissants, yogurt and fruit already on the tables. Next Joani started the conference. Awards were given out. I liked that. I liked the keynote speaker Dr. Ariel Fenster. I thought he was funny. He gave us clickers to use to answer his questions. I learned some new stuff. After that we went to our morning workshop. I went to making art from recyclable materials. I found it good. I learned a lot. Then we went for lunch. I had roast pork, salad and some deserts. After lunch they had drawings for door prizes and the grand prize a Via Rail ticket. I bought one ticket but I didn’t win anything. The centerpieces were given to the person, who found a Halloween bag under their chair. Marlene gave them to Jean and I. Then I went back to my workshop where I finished my art object. The teacher took pictures of everyone’s work. I enjoyed my workshop. I went downstairs to the gift shop where I bought a snow globe for Gisèle a cook at the Residence. I came back upstairs and waited for the others to finish their workshops. Then we left for home. I really enjoyed my day.
