Dominican cigars are considered by many cigar aficionados to be on some of the finest cigars made in the world. This is many thanks to great brands like la aurora, Davidoff, Arturo Fuente, Macanudo, La Flor Dominicana, AVO, etc. When you have chance to choose a Dominican cigar there are many verities to choose from anywhere from mild, medium, or a full bodied testing cigar. Now days many cigar aficionados prefer Dominican cigars over Cuban just because of the quality of the tobacco that’s being produced, and also the uniqueness of the taste that they have to offer. That’s why Dominican cigars are considered to be the number one producers of cigars in the world. The history of cigars in the Dominican Republic dates back to over hundreds of years. La aurora established in 1902 by León Jimenes which is known for making some of the finest cigar in the world is considered to be one of the oldest cigar companies in the Dominican Republic. Dominican cigars did not gain popularity till after the U.S. embargo was passed which was in the 1960. One of the first companies to popularize Dominican cigars is Davidoff. Davidoff cigars which originated in Cuba were known for having some of the most beautiful, richest, smoothest testing cigars. Davidoff was one of the first brands that set out to change what the world thought of the tobacco production in the Dominican Republic. Their main objective was to create cigars not similar to Cubans, but surpass them in every aspect. Many cigar aficionados believe that Davidoff has achieved it. Through the years many other great brands have come to Dominican republic to produce their cigar such brands include Romeo y Juliet, AVO, Arturo Fuente, CAO, La Flor Dominicana, Cohiba, Montecristo, Ashton, etc. Now that we know a little history behind the cigars that come out of Dominican Republic let’s talk about on how to go on and pick the right cigars for you. I like separate this in three categories a mild, medium, full bodied. A mild Dominican cigar is smooth flavorful smoke, No harsh after taste, has a creamy tone. This kind of cigar is great when smoking in the morning, on the golf course, seasonal cigar smokers, and beginners. Some the mild Dominican cigars that have be rated very well are Diamond Crown by Arturo Fuente, La Aurora Preferido, AVO Classics, Davidoff classic, Montecristo white label, Ashton classic, and Zino Platinum Scepter . A medium Dominican cigar usually has bolder flavor, very rich, and also a little spicy note, this kind cigar is great for a person who likes flavor, but not the bold spiciness of a cigar, also its good with a nice port, scotch, or cognac. Here some my favorites and high rated medium bodied Dominican cigars AVO 787, Ashton cabinet, Davidoff Aniversario, Romeo y Juliet Edicion Limitada, and CAO Vision. A full Dominican cigar usually has very bold flavor, mixed with a good amount of spiciness, and some complexity. This is great for a person that’s an aficionado of cigars; it goes really well after good a dinner. Some of the favorites by the cigar aficionados are Opus X by Arturo Fuente, Ashton VSG,

Davidoff Millennium blend, La Aurora 100 anos, La Flor Dominicana Coronado or Double Ligero, and Cohiba Puro Dominicana. Now that you know the difference between each these Dominican cigars, you can go and choose one and enjoy your relaxation as you smoke away on a fine Dominican cigar.
