Do You Think You're A Good Person? Are You A Good Person? Most people would say, “Yes, I’m good compared to most people”. But, what about compared to God’s standards? God’s moral standard is the 10 Commandments.
Have you ever told a lie? If you have, you broke the 8th commandment and that makes you a liar. How many murders must you commit to be a murderer? Just one. Therefore, if you have told even one small lie, you are a liar.
You shall not steal. (Have you ever stolen anything? Regardless of its value)
You shall not make for yourself an idol. (Have you ever put anything before God; Such as a hobby, your job or even your family?)
You shall not commit adultery. (Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28, "everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart"; this also includes sex before marriage). The Bible says in Rev. 21:8 and 1 Cor. 6:9-10 that all liars shall have their part in the Lake of Fire and that no thief, idolater or adulterer will inherit the Kingdom of God. Romans 3:23 says that everyone is a sinner; “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. If you honestly judge yourself with God’s standard, you will see that you have offended God and you will be guilty on Judgment Day, “For the Wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 3:23). Baptism, attending church, your apologies or good works cannot remove your sins. Isaiah 64:6 teaches that even your good deeds are "as filthy rags" to God.
There is only one Way: God loves you so much that He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross and take your punishment. He arose 3 days later, conquering death. “But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). The Bible teaches if you place your faith and trust “only” in Jesus Christ, your sins will be forgiven and you will no longer be guilty. “For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). You can do this right now. Pray and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins; Surrender your life and place your faith and trust in Him. “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9-10).
