Programme Director Dave Bowler has over twenty years of experience in telecommunications training and has provided training to both technical and non-technical audiences, having worked for companies including Cable and Wireless, Mercury Communications and Wray Castle. Tony has over 10 years experience as a telecoms training professional specialising in fixed, wireless and converged technologies and networks. He started his career with British Telecoms, gaining a whole wealth of experience in telecommunications. THE COURSE STRUCTURE IN DETAIL The Certificate and Diploma in Mobile Communications and the Diploma in 21st Century Telecommunications courses are 6 months long and comprise four core modules and between six and eight specialist modules, of which you choose to study two.

TELECOMS ACADEMY VIRTUAL CAMPUS

Each module is made up of written material, coursework (questions, worked examples and research), regular assessments (in the form of multiple choice questions), and tutor support. Written material provided will be nominally between 70-200 A4 pages, and require 20 hours work per module/month.

Pre-Requisites Certificate in Mobile Communications: Nil. Diploma in Mobile Communications: Certificate in Mobile Communications, or equivalent relevant experience. (Please call for details). Diploma in 21st Century Communications: Three year’s relevant experience within the telecommunications industry or a relevant degree in a telecommunications related topic. Integrated Certificate – Diploma Programme: Students who sign up to the Certificate programme intending to move on to the Diploma programme can now take advantage of Telecoms Academy’s fully integrated, Distance Learning programme. The programme incorporates a full Certificate course with an additional 4 modules from the Diploma course leading to the award of a full Diploma. The entire course, including study periods for the Certificate and Diploma examinations can be completed in 12 months. By signing up for the integrated programme students can save over €1145 over the standalone or bridging courses.

Assessment and Examinations Award of the Certificate or Diploma will be on successful completion of a multiple choice final examination. The final examination will be set for one month after nominal completion of the final module. This examination will be conducted through a web interface and will require validation from your (training) manager or responsible person. Full details can be supplied on request. You will also be asked to complete self assessment questions throughout the course in order to monitor your progress.

ALTERNATIVE COURSES Integrated Certificate – Diploma Programme

Diploma Bridging Course

Students who sign up to the Certificate programme intending to move on to the Diploma programme can now take advantage of Telecoms Academy’s fully integrated, Distance Learning programme. The programme incorporates a full Certificate course with an additional 4 modules from the Diploma course leading to the award of a full Diploma. This is nominally a 10 month course with an additional 4-6 weeks examination and preparation time required.

Students who have successfully completed the Certificate Programme may wish to continue studying with the Telecoms Academy and progress to the Diploma course. It is now possible to quickly obtain the Diploma by completing the Diploma Bridging Course, by studying 2 mandatory modules and choosing a further two from the list of optional modules. This is a 4 month course with an examination 1 month after studies have been completed. The successful student will be awarded the full Diploma on completion.

For either course you would take the two mandatory modules and choose two optional modules from below.
