December 2008 Newsletter

President’s Message Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful… And since we’ve no place to go, let it snow, let is snow, let is snow! This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. Although it usually rings true this time of year, our Mom’s Club December calendar proves otherwise. This month is full of so many fun and traditional activities that we have TONS of places to go. On Dec. 9th we will “take a ride” on the Polar Express. Come on over to my house to watch the Polar Express in 3-D (glasses will be provided). Climb aboard for an exciting adventure to the North Pole! Our Kid’s Christmas Party/Club Connection is on Thursday, Dec. 18th at Timothy Lutheran Church/School. We will have a craft, our annual book swap and even a visit from the jolly old elf himself. We are still looking for a Santa volunteer [suit provided], though. Please contact me ([email protected]) if your husband would like to play Santa for a day.  Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our annual MNO Christmas Party. This year it will be hosted by Christine Anderson on Friday, December 12th. We will exchange gifts, eat yummy treats we’ve made and “be merry” together. We hope you will join in on the fun! In addition to our holiday happenings, we have our usual monthly events – Circle of Friends, Coffee Club and Walking Club. These are a great way to meet someone new or catch up with old friends while doing something you enjoy. One of our most popular events, Board Games for Moms, will be hosted on a Thursday this month. We hope that the change of day will spark the interest of moms who have wanted to join in on the friendly competition but couldn’t until now. Lastly, we will ring in the New Year with a bang! Amy Nelson has been planning a wonderful and informative event – The Woodstock Community Stranger Safety Event. It will be on January 5th from 10 am – 12:30 pm at Woodstock Public Library. We will be working with local businesses and the police department to spread the word about safety for children and informing the community about the services offered by Safety Net 4 Kids. There will be a stranger safety movie, coloring stations, story time areas, and games for the kids and much more. We are looking for volunteers to sit at the MOM’S Club table to help advertise our club. If you are interested in helping to be part of this amazing event email me ([email protected]) to sign up for a shift. So as you can see we are a busy club this month. If you are feeling the stress of the holidays upon you, take some time to come to some of our events to relax and have fun with other moms and their kids. Together we will share in the joy and warmth of the holiday season and remind ourselves the true reason for the season. May your and your family have a Happy Holiday and a prosperous New Year! Advertisements Please note that neither MOMS Club® International nor MOMS Club® of Woodstock-South collectively endorses any of these companies. MOMS Club® International recommends that local chapters adopt a blanket rule stating that no member may solicit sales at meetings or group functions. The MOMS Club® of Woodstock-South wholeheartedly endorses this recommendation. Selling takes away from the purpose of the club—getting moms together in an accepting no-pressure environment. If you have a submission, contact Dana Woods at [email protected].
