Welcome Director's Note Scott Morgan, Community Services / Parks & Recreation Director

The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department has always placed a high priority on promoting positive lifestyles for Douglas County families. We know that families that recreate together tend to be closer and more cohesive, having a greater chance of creating healthier relationships. This is true with both parent/child relationships and married couples. By participating in recreation activities together, family members elicit feelings of loyalty, trust, harmony, teamwork and goodwill. This atmosphere encourages family members to try new behaviors and lifestyle changes. Many families use recreation as a way to form bonds and transfer important values to their children resulting in family experiences that create positive memories and often lead to future participation. In fact, many recreation activities develop life skills which stay with participants through their adult lives.
