Mrs. Boggs Social Studies Classes Quarter 2 Outline Units: Greece and CURRENT EVENTS Beginning in the Second Quarter, Team 1 Social Studies classes will report on Current Events once per week (Fridays). Each student will be assigned a different segment of the news to report on. Many students have been doing these reports in first quarter Core Enrichment classes. The difference is that now this will become part of the regular Social Studies class for team 1. Therefore, performances on their current events each week will constitute a daily grade of 24 points. Students will be working in groups. They may choose their own groups; however, students are individually responsible for their report each week to the extent that no group is excused due to an absence of one of the group members. Here is the rubric for grading these report. Accurate and up-to-date Information: 2 pts Presentation: 2 pts Thorough and creative: 1 pt There will be eight reports for which students are graded. (5 pts each) Students may gather news from the internet, the newspapers (available in class) or from watching the news on television during the week. Please encourage your scholar to take an interest in current events as they complete these assignments.
