Pakistani Culture
IMPORTANCE OF CULTURAL • Every nation is known by its culture the Japanese, the French, the British and the Chinese. When Pakistan was created there was no culture to which we could call Pakistani culture. By the name of Pakistani culture we can only describe separate habits, customs, art and craft, way of thinking and acting and labeled these regional cultures as Pakistani culture. After 60 years of independence Pakistan culture is still in making.

HISTORY •

Common History creates a sense of belonging to one nation. Pakistan has a common historical background of almost 1000 years (712-1857 AD) of Muslim rule and Indus valley civilization (2500 BC). GEOGRAPHY: Variety of physical contours; it has green fertile plains, hot deserts, beautiful valleys, snow clad mountains and magnificent coast line. Having a diverse range of physical features, customs, traditions and habits of the people living in different regions has provided a rich cultural heritage to Pakistan.
LANGUAGE • A common language could create natural understanding to such on extent that speaker and listener comes together at one cultural level. Among the other regional languages and dialects Urdu is the language which is spoken and understood throughout the country.
Linguistic Diversity • Over 300 languages and dialects are spoken across Pakistan. Variety of languages is the main factor dividing the various cultural groups. Main languages of Pakistan are Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, Pashto and Urdu. Urdu is the language, which is spoken and understood through out the country. The people of subcontinent develop it under 1000 years of Muslim rule.
Ethnic Diversity • Immigration from central Asia, Afghanistan, Middle East, Turkey and Persia over the countries complicated the racial mixture of the country. Pathan, Balochi, Sindhi and Punjabi are the four major groups of people who are living in Pakistan. • A proportion of the population belongs to Urdu speaking who arrived in Pakistan at the time of partition from different part of India. • There is a unifying sense of being Pakistani too but regional loyalty is more powerful then the sense of being Pakistani.
Marriage • Considered as a social and emotional bond between two individuals and families. • Arrange marriages are preferred. • Wedding ceremony is characterized by Menhdi, dowry and lavish parties from both brides and grooms families.
Family Life • Male oriented with strong sense of family bond, generally preference is given to boys over girls.
Games • Main games and sports are played in Pakistan, which include Wrestling, Hockey, Football, Squash, badminton, Athletes, cricket and Kabbadi.
Mixed Culture •

Pakistani culture can be called as "Mixed Culture". Although the majority of people in Pakistan are Muslims by birth and faith, There is a strong influence of Hindu culture on the present Pakistani culture. The shadows of this influence are quite visible on the marriage ceremonies and festivals like "Basant". 100 years of British Rule left deep mark of English culture in Indo-Pak Subcontinent. Due to advance development in media the whole world is turned into a global village leaving strong impact on Pakistani culture as well.
Food • About 98% of the daily diet of most Pakistani consists of four basic item~ Roti, Rice, Vegetables and meat. Most Pakistani dishes are Nehari, Halwa puri, Korma, Haleem, Biryani etc.
Dress • Dress in a Muslim society like Pakistan is designed and intended to cover human body, as nudity is prohibited in Islam. So, people of Pakistan prefer to wear simple dresses according to their climate.
Ancient & Modern • Ancient & Modern: New ideas and, new technology exist side by side with the old for example, Mild houses with electronic bulb arid transistor, veiled women and fashion shows, automobiles and horse-drawn tangas, nuclear energy and absence of clear drinking water.
Cultural Heritage • Pakistan has very valuable cultural heritage. Shah Jahan Masjid in Thatta, Shalimar Garden, Badshahi Masjid, and Shahi Qila of Lahore are few examples of Mughal architecture. Many rchaeological sites in Pakistan are Moen-jo-daro, Harappa (Indus valley civilization) and Taxila (Gundhara).
Art and Craft: •
Islam prohibited from pictorial art, therefore as being a Muslim country emphasis in Pakistan is laid on non pictorial form of Art like calligraphy, floral and geometrical design. People living in different areas of Pakistan make different articles from the raw materiel available in their areas for example Sindh is famous for Ajrak, embroidery glass work and kashi work and. beautiful decoration pieces made of Sea
Religion •
Creation of Pakistan is the result of deep sentimental attachment of Muslims of Sub-Continent with their religion. Main cause behind the formation of Pakistan is to provide its people a system of life based on Islamic Principles that's why we find deep influence of Islam on every walk of life in Pakistan and the people in spite of difference of languages, custom and tradition commonly follow the religion of Islam.

Eid-ul-fitr; Celebrated on the end of the month of Ramadan. Eid-ul-azha: Celebrated on the10th of Zelhaj in the memory of Abraham's Willingness to slaughter his son in the obedience of God. 12th Rabi-UI-Awal: As the birth day of Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) Melas/ Urs: Generally associate with Sufi Saints these fairs take place throughout the country at different times of the years.
