CSC 317 INTERNET PROGRAMMING MINI PROJECT AS120 (30%) This course requires the students to undertake a mini project. The format of the report and the description are provided below. The presentation and the submission date for the Final Report of the system is in Week 16 (20 Oct ~ 22 Oct 2008) during lab session. Allocation of marks is as follows: 15% for the report and 15% for the system development + presentation. Organization of Teams The Mini Project is carried out by teams of FIVE/SIX students. Project Title 1.

E-Appointment This is a small scale system that allows students to set an appointment with the lecturers of Applied Science Department, UiTM Perlis. The web based system should have a home page with the:  Page that display the information about the consultation hour of every lecturer. There should be 10 lecturers.  Information of the lecturer (Office: room number, telephone number, email, Qualification, Field of study/expertise, Research )  Information about the department The interactive part should include:  Booking form: Allows the student to book an appointment  The form must include: Student name, student matriculation number, Appointment date, Appointment hour, Purpose of appointment (Academic supervision, Study matter, Final project supervision, Personal matter, Others), Mode of appointment (Individual, Group)  Any other additional features in the website will be considered as bonus marks (if suitable) The website should be:  Easy to navigate  Appealing in layout, graphics and color

Warung Mamak Online This is an online ordering form for a “mamak shop”. The web based system should have a home page with the:  Company name and logo  Contact information (Phone: Office, hotline/customer care. fax number, address)



 

Email address Business policy (payment method, product return, waiting time,etc) Nutritional facts

The e-commerce section should include:  Page that display the information about the food/drinks (picture, price). There should be around 10-15 items.  Page that display value meal (there should be about 4 meals)  Ordering form (must include product name, quantity, total price, grand total, delivery cost, dining option: Dine-In, Take-away, Delivery, customer name, address and phone number )  Any other additional features in the website will be considered as bonus marks (if suitable) The website should be:  Easy to navigate  Appealing in layout, graphics and color 3.

Online Brooch This is an online store selling brooch. The web based system should have a home page with the:  Store name and logo  Contact information (Phone: Office, hotline/customer care. Fax number, address)  Email address  Business policy of company (payment method, product return, etc)  Tips for selecting brooch The e-commerce section should include:  Catalog page that display the information about the brooch (picture, size, price). There should be around 10-15 items.  Page that display weekly/seasonal promotions (there should be about 4 items)  Ordering form (must include product/item code, quantity, total price, grand total, customer name, address and phone number)  Any other additional features in the website will be considered as bonus marks (if suitable) The website should be:  Easy to navigate  Appealing in layout, graphics and color

The Report Format The report of the respective systems should be between 10-20 pages (excluding the appendix) using Arial 11pt, and single spacing. The content structure is as follows: Chapter 1: Introduction/Background (2 mark) Provides an overview of the system. This is to provide enough information in understanding what to expect from the system. Chapter 2: Website Design (3 mark) Create your site map Chapter 3: Implementation (8 marks) Show the screen shot of every page in the website. Explain the purpose of each page. (Example: Welcome page is to greet the visitors of the website). If you embed JavaScript as form validation, show the alert/message that will appear if an error is detected in the form. For e-commerce section, you must show the total price and grand total calculated in the booking/order form. Screen shot of empty form is not acceptable. Chapter 4: Conclusion (4 marks) Provides the strengths and weaknesses, suggestion for improvements and what you have learned from this project. Appendix (1 mark) Source code Format (2 marks) - Table of Contents - Header/Footer (eg: Page Number) - Quality of report arrangement Arrangement of the report: 1. Report cover 2. Note: 1. At the back of the report, create a pocket for a CD to be placed in it. The CD should contain web based system and soft copy of your project report 2. Please print the evaluation form and attach with your mini project report as second and third page following the report cover.
