Dear President Barack Obama, My name is Courtney and I attend Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science. The qualities that I love about my local charter school are the teachers and interns. My favorite teachers are Mr. Handon the 6th grade social studies teacher and Mr. Johnson is the 6th grade Language Arts teacher. Mr. Handon is very creative, he thinks of many activities to keep us busy. While Mr. Johnson may not be the funniest teacher, b he is very talented. My favorite interns are Ray Baker and Abiola Martin. Ray Baker was voted most dedicated to his job and Abiola Martin was voted for best in social studies. Many other students may not agree with me, but it does not matter to me what they think. These specific college students/interns have just graduated from Howard University School of Education on May 8, 2009. President Obama I would like to thank you for supporting Washington, DC charter schools. Thanks to you, I do not have to attend my old school any longer. My old school did not have many resources such as textbooks. I thought my old school was very dangerous to attend. I would like to invite you to speak at the National Charter Schools Conference on Monday, June 22,2009. Thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, Courtney
