 Cosplay-sickness

syndrome is a syndrome where someone who is positively an Otaku, harrasses and insults one segment of Otaku-stuff which is called as Cosplay (Dress yourself as a character from anime/game/manga), and interpreted as pathologic, with some pathognomic symptoms

 Some

things that might directly cause this syndrome are  1. Bad cosplay  Suitability between the costume and the cosplayer is vital. Bad cosplay or not-suitable-ness could cause this syndrome to Otaku directly or indirectly since most Otaku knows the basic interpretation of a cosplay

 2.

Excessive favority  The excessive-ness favority on a certain series of anime, game, manga could cause this syndrome indirectly due to assumption so that his/her favorite series should be keep “clean”

A fashion designer  2. A new Otaku, or freshmen Otaku  3. Specialized-Otaku  An Otaku who only specialized into one Otaku segment such as game only, anime only, or manga only

Acute  Mostly in fresh/new Otakus  Cosplay phobia, Insulting with harrassing, Slight depression, obviously avoiding cosplayers, Refrain to attend some Japanese festival when the cosplay activity is on place  These symptoms only involves psychological aspect  Could occur before or when the

Chronic  Could occur in either new Otakus or old Otakus  Nausea, Vomit, Obvious and continuous harrassing, Madness, Deep depression, Shivers  Involves physiological aspect  Occurs right when seeing the cosplay activity is on place

 The

doctor should be an Otaku also who know about every segment of Otaku stuff generally  It’ll be better if the doctor knows about the patient’s favorite series also  The doctor should be neutral and not showing any signs of also being opposite to cosplay activity

 Anamnesis  Specialized

to hobby, how many series that patient love, and how love the patient onto that those series. Ask also whether there are any friend of the patient is also an Otaku  Physical Examination  See and count the Otaku stuffs that patient brought with him/her when

 Additional

examination  Show a sequence of photos of cosplay to the patient  Sequences :  - Starts from the series which is strange to patient, until the series which the patient love  - Starts from the officially good ones, until the “bad” ones

 Anamnesis

and Physical Examination contribute to the positive-ness of this syndrome  Additonal examination can also means diagnostic and to measure the stadium/stage of this syndrome in the patient

 - Communicative  Talk and discuss with

the patient about

cosplay art deeply  Reduce activity of searching cosplay picts radically  Don’t go to the Japanese festival within short period (< 6 months of interval between the 2 festivals)  Refer the patient to have some discussion with a cosplayer who know well about cosplay

 Retrospective-play  Ask

the patient to do a cosplay of any characters from any series that the patient love

Medical/Pharmacy  Anti-depression  Diazepam, Lorazepam, Buspiron  Beta-blocker  Atenolol, Propanolol  Symphatolythic  Acethylcoline  Anti-anxiety  Selegiline  Only

for Chronic case which involves systemic physiology system of the body

 Refrain

to go to Japanese festivals  Release/Ignorant to one of the segment of Otaku stuff  Hate one or more of the series that the patient used to love  Neurosis,Psychosis  Last/End stage

 In

Acute cases, with a good cooperation from the patient, and the optimality and the precise-ness of the commenced therapy, the symptoms of this syndrome will be reduced well  In Chronic cases, the prognosis is Bad since it already involve physiologically and psychologically. The therapy might need longer time and more complicated  Relaps could occur either in Acute cases or Chronic cases
