COPYRIGHT ACT 1957 Copyright gives the owner of work an exclusive right in respect of reproduction,publication,performance,communi cation to the public of es othe work and enables ther to drive finachial benefits by expressing such rights
Mode of assignment
Copy right has prescribed mode of assignment. A mere acceptance of delivery of manuscript does not constitute an assignment of copy right.
Copyright Licence
Licence granted by owner. Licence granted by compulsion
Infringement of Copyright
When without authorisation from the owner of the act or competent authority under the act. Any act is carried out it constitutes infringement of copyright.
Remedies
Civil remedies: Injunction,damages,accounts Protection of separate rights Authors special rights Right to take possession of infringing copies
Criminal offences Punishment Power of police to seize infringing copies.
