Summer Learning Opportunity Individual tutoring taught by Ms. Rowland, certified Reading Specialist and certified elementary school teacher. Lessons for each session will be based on the individual needs of each student and will be correlated to NWEA results. Sessions may also focus on skills that students need to master before beginning school in the fall.
Sessions will meet at the Romeo Graubner Public library ☀ ☀ ☀ ☀
Tutoring sessions will be 1 hour long and will focus on either reading or math. Tutoring sessions are listed on the SignUp Genius page. Those are the only time slots available. For best results, consider scheduling more than one day a week of tutoring. Homework will be assigned after each tutoring session to maximize the amount of reading and learning over the summer. Please take this component seriously as this can help your child really stay ahead of the “summer learning loss.”
KNOW THE FACTS OF “SUMMER LEARNING LOSS” ☀
☀
☀
Struggling readers can lose THREE TO FIVE MONTHS of reading growth over the summer if they do not practice reading. Studies have found that by the end of elementary school, children who did not participate in educational enrichment opportunities over the summer were as much as TWO AND A HALF YEARS behind their peers who did summer programs. Research spanning 100 years shows that students typically score lower on standardized tests at the end of summer vacation than they do on the same tests at the beginning of the summer.
The cost for tutoring sessions is $45 per hour. If you are interested in setting up tutoring, please visit this website:
