Command Sergeant Major William R. Jones Jr. is native of Greenville, SC. He entered military service on 1 December 1981. He attended Basic and Advance Individual Training at Fort Benning Georgiawhere he was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty of 11B. His military education includes the Warriors Leader’s Course, BNCOC, ANCOC, the Senior Enlisted Naval Academy Course, Instructors Training Course, the Bradley Transition Course, and the Bradley Master Gunners Course. His awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with 5 OLC, Army Commendation Medal with 4 OLC, Army Achievement Medal Silver OLC, Army Good Conduct Medal 8th Award, Overseas Ribbon
with the numerical 5, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numerical 4, Global War On Terrorism, Korean Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal 2nd Award, Valorous Unit Award, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Expert Infantryman Badge. CSM Jones as served in numerous Leadership positions throughout his career from Team Leader, to Command Sergeant Major at the battalion level. His Duty Assignments include Ft Stewart GA, Auburn University, Ft BenningGA, Camp Hovey Korea, Ft Lewis Washington, Ft. Knox KY, Riyadh Saudi Arabia, Ft Campbell KY, Ft Polk LA and Germany. CSM Jones’ civilian education includes a High School Diploma from JL Mann High school in Greensville South Carolina, a Bachelor in Criminal Justice from Troy University, a Bachelor in Business from Maryland University and a Master in Science of Management from Troy University. He is married to the former Barbara L. Williams of Alexandria Louisiana.
