our total system approach Sandwell has in-house capability to plan and engineer marine, mine and materials handling projects. Every project is approached on a total system basis to determine the appropriate combination of services required. Sandwell has completed more than 45,000 projects in 80 countries worldwide.

Dual and Triple Spreader Operation Currently, the centre of attention for many terminal operators has moved to ship to shore cranes with dual and triple spreaders. Sandwell has in-house expertise in the operations and engineering aspects of the multi-spreader operation. Our specialists offer professional advice with regard to operation of dual and triple spreader operation, optimizing productivity, prediction of productivity increase by using dual and triple spreader operation on each individual vessel. In addition, we can provide complete engineering of the quay surface structure and crane rails needed to deploy dual or triple spreaders gantry cranes.

Our services include:

Triple and Dual Spreader Operation

Master planning, site selection and feasibility studies, financial analysis and bankable documents

Simulation modeling of operations and system capacity

Terminal planning and optimization studies

Railway transport systems and intermodal yards

Railway and trucking economics and logistics, conceptual, preliminary and detailed terminal design

Ocean and coastal engineering

Project and construction management

EPC and EPCM packages

Operational assistance, training and commissioning

Capacity Planning System (CAPS) Our capacity planning experts simulate vessel operations at the quay, and analyse stacking area usage by categories, such as standard, reefer, dangerous and empty containers. Our specialists analyze and determine the required number of ships to shore cranes for an anticipated annual throughput, as well as berth capacity and ground slots in the stacking areas.

Simulation of Container Handling Systems (SCUSY)

Simulation of Container Handling Systems (SCUSY) Our container handling experts simulate each terminal element, such as quayside cranes while servicing the vessels, operating gates, prime movers and active yard cranes. Our experts simulate terminal operations for defined periods, identifying possible bottlenecks and solving complex container handling problems. The results are presented in sophisticated graphics and operational logs.

our services New Container Terminals and Marine Facilities

Master Planning and Feasibility Studies

Sandwell is among the world’s most experienced firms in ports and marine in the world. We have designed more than 450 marine terminal facilities designed for container, general cargo, bulk and liquid cargo, specialized installations for cruise vessels and materials handling.

Sandwell offers extensive experience in all aspects of port planning, engineering design and development, port and terminal management, economics and operations. To meet client requirements, the group draws on the resources of terminal operators to provide proven and innovative solutions using current technology.

Our experience includes feasibility studies, design and construction of container terminals, intermodal yards and inland container depots (ICD’s).

DP World, Centerm Container Terminal Operational review, detailed design, permitting, tendering and construction supervision.

Master Planning, Puerto Cabello Master planning, site location, container terminal feasiiblity study and design.

Project Management Services

Evaluation of Multimodal Transport Systems The economics of selecting a transportation chain for the movement of a container from origin to destination is a key factor. We help our clients evaluate and select the best system for its needs, based on multi-modal assessments using simulation modeling. Our total system approach includes truck and rail transport between container terminals, intermodal yards, off-dock storage yards and inland container terminals.

Sandwell offers project management services during any or all phases of a capital project, including: • • • • • • • TSI, Delta Port Roberts Bank intermodal container terminal expansion.

DP World, Centerm Container Terminal Operational review, detailed design, permitting, tendering and construction supervision.

Technical Assistance and Training

Simulation Modeling Sandwell’s animated transportation and container terminal simulation models are used to assess the effects of terminal improvements, throughput capacity as well as simulating the capacity of marine and railway systems.

Sandwell can provide technical assistance and training to terminal operators, Port Authorities and Governments for existing or planned developments worldwide.
