Swallow Cottage, Swallow Vale, Swallow, LN7 6DW (01472) 371382 Fax: (01472) 371681 E-mail: CllrA.Turner@linco The Village sign, designed and made by Chairman of the Parish Council and art teacher, Geoff Baxter from locally sourced oak, depicts Holy Trinity Church set against rolling Wold hills and topped by the Yarborough Buckle. The Sign commemorates the Millennium and was erected in the presence of the Countess of Yarborough in December 2001. The history of the village dates back to Anglo-Saxon times. Some Roman objects have been found but there is no evidence of a Roman settlement. Holy Trinity Church tower is Anglo-Saxon, the Nave 14th century with several Victorian additions. The village was laid out in 1807 at the Enclosures and the farms and cottages were in place by 1870. Today there are four farms in Swallow and one in Cuxwold. The Swallow Inn is the only business open to the public. In addition the Village Hall, which was the village school until about 35 years ago, is now used for Parish Council meetings and many Village events. There are two play areas in Swallow and Cuxwold. There are 72 properties in Swallow and 12 in Cuxwold with an electorate of around 160.
