Defining the Concept of the Seven Mountains - The Seven Mountains are very simply the seven primary culture-shaping arenas of society. They have been called the 7 gates, mind-molders, and pillars of society. They are leading categories that almost all cultural shaping vocations fit into. - History of 7 Mountains: Loren Cunningham and Bill Bright, 1975. Identifying and Integrating the Seven Mountains - Religion - Family - Government - Business - Education - Arts and Entertainment - Media and Publications Jesus was a Holistic (marketplace) Minister - Born into a marketplace home – not into a religion mountain home but into a carpenter’s home. - Spent thirty years in the marketplace only 3 and a half year in religion mountain. - Most of his parables were about the marketplace. - God wanted a marketplace mindset and model of ministry to be how he lived so that we would reproduce that.

The Comprehensive Kingdom – Pt. 2 05.13.09 Every Arena of Society is Important to God - Matthew 28:18,19 - The destiny of Nations depends on the destiny of Individuals o Our calling will find its expression and fulfillment in one of the “mountains.” o Our calling is spiritual – we are called to a mountain. Thus our involvement in the mountains is spiritual. - Ephesians 2:10 – God’s has prepared good works for us in the mountains. o God has made preparation for our purpose. - 2 Timothy 1:9 – [NAS] who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, God has a WILL for every arena of society: Governing Parameters - God’s will speaks to His desires and His directives. Directives (an order or official instruction) are given BECAUSE of His desires, to facilitate, insure, and safeguard those desires. - If we believe that the Lordship of Christ covers ALL of life and ALL of life equally – then it would be safe to say that God has a will for ALL of life or for every arena of society. - If He has a purpose for every arena of society then He has a governing will for that purpose in every arena God has WISDOM for every arena of society: Biblical Principles and Perspective 1 Kings 3:7-9 - Solomon was a king – He was in the government mountain, he needed wisdom to make decisions, to lead, to write policy and create laws, to judge between matters, etc. - V. 11 – Discernment in administering justice. Justice is needed in every arena of society – but we must have the spirit of wisdom and revelation in order to bring God’s justice into the seven mountains. 1 Kings 4:29-34 - Wisdom in all arenas of life Genesis 41:33-40 – Wisdom for the Business Mountain (Joseph) God has an ANOINTING for every arena of society: Divine Enablement and Empowerment Exodus 31:1-6 - Bezalel was filled with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts to do artistic WORK. Acts 1:8 – We have been given by power by the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses in every realm of society. He Gets WORSHIP From Every Arena of Society Confronting our inaccurate paradigms: - Do you believe that what you do in a worship service is more important or more valuable to God than what you do at school, work, or in your home the next morning? - When systems function in their created order/purpose they bring God glory. - Systems cannot function this way without God’s people leading them. - We need His will, wisdom, and anointing to walk in His authority to rule and reign on top of the mountains. 2
