Maintenance and care of biological or pharmaceutical ensure electrical safety, ensure that the room is well ventilated and protected from outside light and heat. Defrost the refrigerator whenever frost in freezer become 1/4 to 3/4 inches thick, keep the doors and lids firmly shut open the door only when you have to take out or put - in product. Do not put items in the refrigerator other than vaccines/biological products.

Plan for both mechanical and power failure, the hospital has automatic generator that supports during power failure.

In case of cold chain - fill empty spaces of the main storage cabinet with covered container of water and fill empty spaces of the freezers compartment with icepacks ensure that there shoud have transport boxes for all the vaccines and that the required number of icepacks are frozen at all. PHarmacy personnel must know these policies.

Defrost and clean refrigerator / freezers regularly.
