•Cognitivism refers to a class of “learning theories”, that argues to open “THE BLACK BOX” of mind. •In 1960’s cognitivism has provided the pre-dominant perspective and learning has evolved.

Methods and styles of thinking, “Language skills and use” Strategies for remembering and recalling information. The person learns the meaning of various objects and event, and learns responses depending on the meaning assigned to stimuli

What Cognitivists did? • Cognitive school of thought went to that

“BLACK BOX” to study the mind of child. • They found that the mind of learner is a strong information processor. • They searched out that how mental process enables the child to acquire any language.
