I arrived in Australia about 18 months ago and have worked as a Coal Sampler, Coal mine receptionist and Dump Truck Driver. I offer the ability to work within a team or autonomously. I am a friendly, organised, methodical, motivated, fit, mature woman, with the ability to get along with most people. Ability to generate and maintain records, reports, order, secure and maintain equipment and supplies, and comply with all administrative policies and legislation. I have completed my S1, G8, G9, G2 and have booked with SHARP training in Moranbah to complete a Trainer Assessor Course later in the month. I am keen to up-skill, gaining more knowledge within the Coal industry. I also intend to complete training in the Health, Safety and Environment after completing the TAA course, as most of my past experience has been as a New Zealand Police officer (14 years). I am specialised in the following fields Community Policing, Youth Aid, Youth Education, Forensics and General Duties), requiring a numerous variety of skills particularly related to Health and Safety. Most of these roles involved a more ‘Pro active” approach to Policing as well as teaching clients both externally (parents, teachers, work mates, children and professionals at all levels), however general duties and Forensics involved a more investigative approach where I was involved in the day to day and serious scene examinations ie murders/rapes etc. Eventually after gaining more Operating experience I would be keen to utilise all my past skills and new skills I gain from working in the Coal industry.

Constable Edmonds…. worked with the following handicaps - 1) No proper PDs (Police directions)…2) No proper KRA’s…3) Minimal supervision and working away from the rest of her group 4) Poor understanding of her proactive work by other Police staff 5) No support from the Administration for the role she had intensively trained for. 6) Some difficult circumstances “off the job”. Despite this she continued to apply herself to the work she was given by me and the work she obtained through her community contacts. I was entirely happy with her level of application and results. Initiative and Enterprise - Initiated the use of drug dogs in schools in collaboration with Dog personnel and schools within the local area. Policies had to be recognised and specific steps taken by the school before this could occur. I.e.
signs placed on school gates/entrance ways, board of trustees and parents informed, and the presence of drugs located within the school grounds or on a student before searches could be carried out. - Headed serious crime scene investigations regarding rapes, aggravated robberies and other serious crimes when appropriate. - Initiated referrals and carried out the Family Group Conference process within Youth Justice, resulting in sound, manageable alternatives ensuring accountability of the young person to the victim in each case. - Police representative for Care and Protection unit. - Spearheaded the reintroduction of Blue Light Ventures, which were Community programmes to break barriers between the Police and the community. These included initiatives such as Blue light discos, one for primary school children and one for intermediate level students. These included primary / intermediate age discos, a Blue light all night party, a tribute from the blind foundation to key members in appreciation for their work, activities in holiday programs. - Built and maintained effective working relationships with ethnic and cultural groups. - Maintained and strengthened relationships with community groups, internal and external agencies.

This program was designed by a psychologist to be used for troubled teenagers on the boarder of getting into trouble testing the boundaries at school, home and in the community. I found this program to be very enlightening and often difficult as the tool were a book of stories of a boy on a journey through the land of confusion (teenage to man/womanhood), which was fantasy based as the youth would inevitably identify with the boy and his experiences.
Correspondence - Consistently recognised on both oral and written evaluations as “exceeding expectations” with relation to orderliness, timeliness, patience and the ability to communicate effectively with people at their level. Ie children/ youth, parents, teachers, administrators, and managers. - Developed new contracts for Youth Aid Staff to utilise when preparing youth diversions, which assisted the offender and family in making appropriate decisions for reparation to the victim. - Developed Juvenile photograph portfolio to assist staff in the identification of prolific juvenile offenders, updating when necessary. - Completed a full range of complaint correspondence in a timely manner. - Completed standard action in relation to routine correspondence including notifying complainants, finalising related computer documents; and dealing with exhibits.
