We are in week three of Unit 6 “Addition and Subtraction within 1,000.” We will finish this unit the week of April 15th. Please go to the Math tab on our classroom website to access an excellent overview on this unit and what you can do at home to reinforce learning. Please access the thinkcentral website via our classroom website under “Online Resources.” That link is specific to our school and if you simply google thinkcentral, you will not be able to log in. There will be learning opportunities for Addition and Subtraction w/i 1,000 assigned to your child on thinkcentral. Please note, assignments are minimal for this unit due to this chapter of gomath not aligning with our standards. Per DoDEA’s guidelines please do not teach your child the algorithm (borrowing and carrying) to solve multidigit addition and subtraction. Please use the strategies of open number line, base 10 blocks and composing and decomposing numbers. We have been using these strategies from day one so your child should be well-versed in them however during Unit 6 homework, please remind them to use those strategies. I also now have BenchMark our new ELA program up and running online. Please see under the “Online Resources” tab of my classroom website.

Our study trip to the Wilhelma Zoo (May 8, 2019) will quickly be upon us so notify me ASAP if you would like to chaperone this trip.
