About the Institute …
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences is a premier institution for Social Science education & Management in South Asia. The institute was established in 1936 under the aegis of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. It was then known as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work and was the first school of social work in the country. In 1944, the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was recognized as a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India.

Healthcare in India has witnessed colossal shifts in terms of its practice and delivery over the last 50 years and the TISS School of Health Systems Studies has always been instrumental in putting these changes ‘in perspective’ through the promotion of research, collaboration and dialogue. A defining moment for the SHSS was the pioneering of the first course in Hospital Administration (DHA) in 1982. Since then, there has been a constant expansion in research and application of the unique concepts of Healthcare Management to meet the administrative demands of a dynamic healthcare environment. As an integral part of this endeavour, the following exclusive courses were started:

Clairvoyance…. Envisioning Healthcare! ‘Clairvoyance’ is a signature annual event conducted by the students of SHSS. It is an endeavour to bring together multitudes of healthcare professionals, students and industry leaders to a common platform of deliberation and discussion. Over the years, Clairvoyance has addressed pertinent issues facing healthcare as it transitioned from ‘sector’ to ‘industry’.
Our logo truly represents the meaning of the word, Clairvoyance – ‘An eye which envisions the future of global healthcare and emphasizes the paramount role of India in the global context.’

Throughout the years, the event has drawn participation from healthcare professionals, industry stalwarts and students of top medical, paramedical and management schools across India.
Master’s of Public Health (MPH) Over the years, the Institute has made consistent contributions to civil society and the development sector, through education, research, field action and extension. Today, the TISS has earned recognition as an institution of repute from Ministries of the GoI and various State Governments; international agencies such as the United Nations; and the non-government sector, both national and international. Keeping up its primary goal of working for the promotion of sustainable, equitable and participatory development, the institute provides a variety of courses through 6 schools among which the ‘School of Health Systems Studies’ occupies a position of prime importance.
